I want to say THANK GOD, we are now almost debt free. We are totally credit card debt free. We use them and pay them off at the end of each and every month, never pay interest.

We used all the money we were paying for itnerest on cards towards our mortgage. Last month we mailed in our last payment (17 yrs instead of 30 years). We got the deed from the bank yesterday.

We now owe $10,000 (approx.) on a semi new car. That is all. We should be able to pay $2000 per month towards it and get it paid off in 5 months and officially be debt free.

Woohoo. It is so nice not to have a house payment hanging over our heads.

Now to start saving for retirement. We have one with $56000 in it but that is nowhere near enough for two (49 year olds) to retire on. So on we go.

Great job.....its fantastic knowing your house is paid off isn't it? Ours has been paid off for almost 10 years now. We owe nothing except on my Prius and that is at zero percent interest so we are okay with that!
