Welcome to my pity party :( Feeling a little defeated today

I recently fractured my rib. DH got a stress fracture in his foot and a pinched nerve in his back. I started school this semester (very last minute decision but thought it was in the best interest since I don’t know how long my job is going to last) I’m making half of what I used to make and we are spending a fortune on gas to get dh to and from work every week.

All of the card balances have gone up from my last update and we received another doctor bill from my daughter seeing him in January. L We are just not making enough to cover monthly expenses at this point.

I am exhausted fighting with DH about money. He is tired of “being broke” and “not being able to do ANYTHING”. I am tired of not making ends meet. I wish it were possible for me to get a second job but with school full time and a full time job (and kids) I just don’t see it happening. We just had a huge yard sale and sold everything extra out of the house. I’m doing as many surveys as the companies will send my way…I just don’t feel like this is ever going to get any better.

Hugs! I think it's great you are being proactive and going back to school! It's a hard thing to do but it will pay in the future. I also think the fighting is completely normal considering all of the stress that comes with strained finances. I hope you two are able to get over the hurdles and start pulling together as a team. Good luck with your changes and keep up the proactive attitude. You CAN do it!!! Your balance is less than it initially was when you started this... that is AWESOME!!! Focus on that fact if you need to.

I'm sorry to hear how rough things are going. Hang in there, it will get better. Congratulations on going back to school and working towards a better life for yourself and family. I'll be praying for you.

    10/6 update:

    credit card - $321.81 - 9.9%, $602.30
    credit card - $854.30 - 19.24%, $1248.35
    credit card - $296.09 - 21.9%, $271.71
doctor bill - $500 - $85 per month min. $0- paid it in full for a 15% discount
    braces - $3149 - $126 per month min. $3023
    dr. bill-$81.85- $0 - pd in full
    new dh dr bill- $78.28

grand total: $5203.05 new total: $5223.64

I paid the doctor bill off before I knew that DH was going to charge workout supplements and a surprise getaway for us this weekend (i'm happy that he wants to get away with me but i want to strangle him for spending the money right now). I also balanced the checkbook and found out that I'm not getting his receipts so we were about $250 off in the checkbook. Things that i thought i had covered were then charged :(
I'm going to try and use this weeeknd to have a heart to heart (he can't really escape when we're in the car for hours) Pray for me. Something has to change.

Total debt is going down and that's all that matters right now :) Hopefully we can pay a little more down the 1st week of November. Spoke to DH on our trip and laid everything out for him. Hopefully he is willing to try...the look on his face when I told him my plan for next year was priceless. I'm ready to start living like noone else

Tossed a little more to debt on the 1st. DH just found out he's getting a raise that will start in a couple of weeks! Good news :) My goal right now is to see everything (besides the braces) paid off by end of 2011!

Alright, time to get back on this and be accountable! I got a seasonal part time job so we have been able to knock out a little of our debt. I do believe that DH and I are on the same page and ready to tackle this!

    3/1 update:

    credit card - $551.65 - 9.9%

    credit card - $573.59 - 19.24%
    credit card - $0 - 21.9%
    braces - $2393 - $126 per month

    grand total: $3518.24

We are currently saving for our daughters oral surgery to the tune of $820. I'm hoping to have that money all together and have the cc's paid off by the end of this month. The income from the 2nd job is really helping out but it's seasonal so I it's only another 1.5 months.

Great job!!! I read your thread, and I know it seems as though sometimes you were taking one step forward and two steps back, but you have made progress!! Just don't give up.

I keep hearing on the news that the economy is starting back up, so maybe that will help, also.
