No no no!! Do NOT go to freecreditreport.com UNLESS you want to pay $14.95/mo for their monitoring service. The credit report is free is you pay the monthly fee, which they DO NOT make clear in their ads.

A totally free report is available to you at annualcreditreport.com. You can get a free one from each of the three credit bureaus once a year. Your best bet is to stagger it and get one from a different company every four months.

This is exactly what I do. I have it saved in my favorites and named it ExpNov09, TUMar10, EquJuly10 (and then rename as the time passes)so I never have to go looking up the previous one to find out which one and when i got it. Plus it reminds me to do it since I'm in my faves everyday.
