Grrrrr. I have spent three days on this and feel as though I'm chasing my tail!!! DS is getting married in May, and wants to (and should) wear a kilt. I have tried googling our area, get links and it turns out to be in Arizona or Georgia or .....someplace. This is infuriating.
Anyone in Upstate NY know where I can rent a kilt?

Well, this is closer than Georgia, maybe they could help you out. Welcome to Kiltmaker's Apprentice!
My husband and his best man wore kilts and the whole getup at our wedding. I believe we rented them from a costume rental place. We were not able to get his family's official plaid, I believe it was a generic maroon/green one.
My husband and I had a Scottish wedding in which everyone wore kilts and the women wore plaids. It was soooo much fun and sooo colorful!! When I was planning this (granted it was 10 yrs ago, now) I googled kilt rentals and was able to get an array kilts. We sent in the measurements and they sent them UPS about a week before the wedding. We just had to make sure they weren't super dirty, pkg them up, and sent them back. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the company, but it worked really well! Maybe try searching scottish weddings and maybe a website dedicated to this will have reccommendations?? We had to find McAllister, Graham, and others and they had them in stock.
Good luck!!
I found one!!! I googled our state, then our area, then large cities, and finally, found scottishkiltrental.com, and spoke with a fellow who had such a strong burr, it was hard for me to understand him, but aside from measurements, we are all good to go,
Thank you all for your input, and encouragement!
