HELP Looking to order a Girls Coat..(not Jacket) where should I look?

Okay I need your brainstorming help here.

My 9 year old needs a new Winter Coat.

I live in rural Kansas, so going to the store to purchase one my choices are

    Walmart
    Walgreens
    Family Dollar
    Dollar General
    So um No

Yes I'm the Walmart mod...but I draw the line in the sand..I'm not buying her a coat there. She's in school..and I need something really warm and something that will last for a couple of years..so um no. Also because of my kids ages and sex (Girl 9, boy 5, girl 3) I don't save there clothing to hand down, I sell it..and wally world clothing has no resell value.

I also want to spend approximately $60 or less. and it really needs to be a coat..not a "Jacket". So many places now days sell things that look like coats but they call them Jackets and warm wise..they are basically Jackets. "Sometimes" It might be adequate enough if I could actually see it, but even if I had a chance to drive to Joplin (which I just don't right now) there is limited stores there as well.

So if you know of some stores and deals going on right now for coats!!!. I'd sure appreciate it!!!

Agree on the Walmart coat. I bought myself a jacket there once. We were on our way in when it started raining really hard. My daughter insisted that I get myself a hooded jacket while we were in there. I did but something just felt wrong and cheap about the jacket and I wound up giving it away.

I have gotten my daughter nice coats online at JC Penney. I once got her a nice leather coat on Ebay but as it turned out her teacher had a coat that was pretty much identical so the kids made fun of her for it. Alas most of the other places online where I used to get kid's clothes are no longer in business. You might also try Kohl's online. I don't know if they have any kid's coats right now but I have gotten clothing for my daughter there. The quality is good.

I've always loved Kmarts clothing, they stand up alot and my daughter has grown out of them more than ruined them in any way, and their coats are 40% off this week, and if you can order tonight there's an additional 20% today only. I was looking at this one that even though it does say jacket, it's a 4 in 1 with a fleece fall jacket that zips into a shell. I have something similar I picked up at walmart last winter on clearance and that thing can get really warm.

LL Bean has a similar coat, little out of your price range at $90, but it's LL Bean and that thing will hold up like nothing else, and since it's for your eldest girl you'd more than likely be able to hang on to it for a hand me down because that company just makes things that LAST and then even resell it after your littlest one grows out of it. This is their Wildcat parka, with the comfort range clear down to 5 below which I'm sure would come in handy in your area. With it being out of the price range the only reason I mention it is right now their holiday promotion is going on and when you spend $50 you get a $10 gift card for your next order, so if you had other holiday shopping from there it might be an idea.

Or, looking through there, there's also a goose down jacket at $69, comfort range down to 15 below, plus you'd still get the $10 gift card. Plus everything ships free there so that's one less expense. And if you go through ebates or mypoints there's an added bonus.

    Good luck in finding something!

I'd look at Kohls or JCP online Black Friday deals. There are frequent extra discount and free shipping codes. However, most of the JCP free shipping codes are to the store. Kohls ships to home for free with a code, and you can use two codes-- one for extra discount and one for free shipping.

One thing I always did when my daughter was younger (wouldn't help now) was to get a coat the next size up at the end of the season when they were cheap. I got coats for as little as $5 online. Sadly the places I used to order from are now closed. I would also check the Landsend outlet every few weeks and I have gotten jackets for the entire family there. But they don't seem to have any winter ones now in the outlet. Not for kids anyway. I always thought the difference between a coat and a jacket was the length. But I could be wrong.

L.L Bean I know you pay for them but if anything breaks they will replace it for free. If you have a younger child that it will be handed down to put your money out and get one from L.L Bean

I wonder if they get cheaper later in the season? I looked today and everything I saw was $180 ish..and my DH would kill me if I spent that much

And then I see the link from laterwaterlind...so apparently..I don't know how to navigate their pages..cause I was stuck on "very expensive coat pages"

I totally used to do this!!!

Now I live in the middle of nowhere. It takes 3 hours to drive to Kansas City, or Two hours to Tulsa where real stores are...so lets just say..it doesn't happen much.

I don't even have a thrift store here I hate not having a thrift store.
