It is probably a little to early yet for the good turkey sales. Last year I didn't find any good prices on breasts only so I bought the whole turkeys at 49cents per pound. They didn't get that cheap until closer to thanksgiving though.
Don't know about others, but I find that a frozen turkey breast a great buy for the amount of meat, soup gleaned from cooking one in a crockpot.
It's one of my 'meat stretcher' buys that gives us great value when they're on sale.
My "buy" price is $1.09 or less, although I can't recall the last time I found them for 99 cents a lb
Tis the season for these little bundles of joy to be coming up on sale! I scour the ads weekly looking for the beginning of such sales but so far no luck.

We have one chain this week offering whole turkeys for 79 cents a lb - not good enough
But some years I know I've seen an early pricing war for whole and turkey breasts in October...I keep hoping for one! Last year was a tough year, breasts randomly went on sale and it was odd when they ran them.
I'll buy one whole bird for T'giving Day but love to stock up on the breasts for all year, especially at the price of lunch meats anymore, it makes for excellent quality lunch meat and sooo cheap!

I would love for this to be a good year for sales on breasts. I really miss using my crock for turkey! With the whole birds I can just barely fit them in my tiny oven.
I always try to find the smallest whole bird, around 12 lbs max - they are hard to come by too!
Yup, I'm looking every week for a good deal on turkey breasts - when I find it, I'm stocking upI just cooked the last one I had from last year, meat is already vacuum sealed and in the freezer, soup stock with bits of turkey the same
Love being able to pull out precooked/prepared meals all winter long!
