since the MQs are giving .01 overage, what you can do is tell the cashier in a nice way to adjust the 2nd $1 MQ to .98 and enter it as vendor coupon. That is allowed per WAG policy of adjusting coupons to meet their sale price.

if cashier refuses or does not know how to enter Q as vendor coupon when it beeps, ask for a MOD who should know how to handle cases like this. this should work even if you're only buying gum and nothing else.
