    QUESTION Baby food

I need to know where baby food is on sale. I have MANY grocery stores around me and none of them I am having luck finding baby food on sale through their online ad. Giant last week had beechnut on sale, and I didnt see that online either. (stage 1 any brand)

    Grocery stores around myself are:

    Giant
    Foodlion
    Shoppers
    Lauers
    Shoprite
    Box n save
    Shop n save
    Aldi
    Safeway
    and babies r us

    Thank you all in advance!

I really suggest making your own. Seriously! Buy canned veggies (peas, green beans) salt free (you can do organic if you are so inclined) and food process. Also buy you can steam carrots and apples pretty easily and then mash. Another option is mashed sweet potatoes. Also buy regular old sugar free applesauce instead of baby food. Avacado is a good option too!

I only bought the babyfood meats (only because I was way too lazy to cook and mash those).

I read a lot of food labels with my dd and then tried to find ways to save.

I will keep in the lookout cause I am in MD too.

We plan on making our own, starting with stage 2, just right now, with hubby working LONG hours and having a very demanding 4 (almost 5) month old while I'm by myself, its hard to cook, clean and mash right now. At 6 months, we are hoping it'll be easier. We also don't have a food processor, but plan on buying one before October.

I second the make your own suggestion. It is sooo much cheaper! I remember when my kids were babies, for just two medium sweet potatoes I could get probably 8 jars worth of food, at a minimum for a stage 1 size. I would just cut them in half, put them cut side down on a sheet of greased foil (or use the release foil), then roast for about an hour at 400 until they're super, super soft. Let cool, puree, freeze either by dropping onto waxed paper and flash freezing, or using ice cube trays to portion, or whatever works for you. When you need one, just take it out and zap it a little (a very little!) until it's warmed up to eating temp. I did the same with squash. Steam pears, apples, etc.

However...if you want to buy it (which I also did because - well, time just gets away from you and sometimes there just isn't any!), I found my best price per jar was to buy it by the case.

I REALLY do want to make my own, but as I said right now, its just so hard to find time to cook for myself, plus running the oven, oh man its been HOT out! But we will be making our own eventually, we have lil recipe books for babies and all! Because I had coupons (and Im sure Ill use some stage 2 baby food) I was able to get them VERY cheap (6 for .75 cents!) They were .55 a jar, buy 5 get 1 free, so thats 2.75 and i had beechnut coupons 1.00 off ANY beech nut products. So I used 2 of em and volia! But the sale at Giant was only for stage 2 foods. :(

There is no difference in stage 1 and stage 2 baby food that are only one ingredient other then their is more in stage 2 then stage 1. So don't stress about not feeding them stage 1. All it is is a smaller jar.
