It seems with regular use that all the water and detergent that goes through your washer would make it unnecessary.
But I think I have seen a product at Walmart that does that. I don't remember what it's called, sorry to not be of more help.
Need to know what works n where to buy n whats a good price?

Clorox and Tide both make a washing machine cleaner. I tend to just run a cycle with bleach though if I am noticing any sort of smell or anything in our Front Loader.

My mom has a habit of closing the door after she's washed (instructions say to leave it open to keep it aired out) or leaving a load of wet clothes overnight, so if the drum smells, then I'll run a hot cycle on quick wash with vinegar. I pour about 1/2 cup into the detergent shoot and that freshens it up.
I did win 2 of the Tide HE cleaners from their facebook promo, but I haven't used them yet to see how they work.

IMO, you don't need a special cleaner. Our washer has a "clean cycle" that uses bleach, but you could just run a load with hot water and bleach and it would do the same. Also, leave the lid open between loads to let it dry out thoroughly.

We us Affresh every so often.
ETA: We bought it at Home Depot, but I believe Walmart sells it. It was around $3 for the package.
It's nice to be important, but it's important to be nice!
What Isis said.
White vinegar, a cupful to a tub and run it thru the regular cycle.
You'd be surprised at the buildup of soapy film that gets in the washer.
White vinegar also in the dishwasher to clean it out and make it smell better. You can also put it in the little dispenser for the rinse aid stuff, and it will leave the dishes sparkling.
I have a 2nd generation Neptune cicra 2001. I unscrewed the door light and leave it open between washes. Never had a problem yet.
