Default Sewing Machine for 9 year old -- Singer or Brother??

Target has a Singer Promise on sale tomorrow for $59. Walmart has Brother Limited Edition Runway 20 stitch for $59. I've been looking for reviews on them and don't find a lot of info on the Singer one. Anyone with sewing experience have a preference or suggestion? My son wants to learn how to sew so I thought we'd start with one of these. Thanks in advance!

Recently, my daughter said to me, "Mom, I was born to snuggle. What were you born to do?" Of course, I had to answer, "I was born to shop!"

I haven't tried either of those, but my first machine was a Singer, and my new one is Brother. You don't need anything fancy at all for a first time sewer... 20 stitches should be plenty.
Oops... sorry - you exceeded the limit of my attention span!

Bye Mom... I love you, and will miss ya. 4/5/11
