CHEF What is a good deal for chocolate chips?

Hey this is my first Christmas season since I started couponing. I have to buy alot of chocolate chips for fudge. I do cookie/candy/fudge plates every Christmas for all my relatives.

They are on sale this week for 2 for $4. I have a $.50 off coupon on one and a $.50 cent doubler which would make them $1.00 a piece. Is that the best I can do? Or should I wait a week or two. Of course I only have three coupons but maybe I can scrounge somemore up. I need to buy 15 packages so I need a good deal.

$1/pack or less is a good deal for me. I found some Tollhouse chips on clearance at Walgreens last year that worked out to be .75 after coupon, but that was the first time I had ever found them that cheap. I'm using my last few bags of chips this week from last year's sales.

Don't forget about Baker's Chocolate Bars. You can find tear pads or booklets with Qs for them in the store (I have found them on the Kraft endcaps w/ jello and other baking goods). Bars will work the same as chips for melting recipes - just get the same variety (ie semi-sweet). You might be able to find more coupons available for these than the chips.

Good Luck! I need cheap brown and powdered sugar - holding out and hoping for <$1 .

I got them for $1 each this year and last year, plus after Christmas I got some red/green ones for .50 on clearance.

$1 each would be fabulous for me.

You can also get creative and chop up some of that leftover Halloween candy to use in baking projects.

I shoot for $1/bag or less too.
Walgreens had them $1.79 a few weeks ago with 7-day q. After the .50/1 q and RR (I bought some marshmallow creme too), everything came to about .50 each.
This week, I got 2 more bags at Winn Dixie. Bogo @ 2.50 less 2 .50 q's makes them .75 each.

I think .99/bag is great for Nestle chips.
I stocked up big time at this price recently, then wouldn't you know they went on sale somewhere else where it worked out to $0.88/bag (w/Q)....of course!!!

But, I would not count on getting them for less than $1/bag.

It depends--are you brand specific? I've had disasters with Baker's and Toll House, and now only use Ghirardelli or Guittard. Recently Safeway had a store coupon for $1.89 for the 12 oz Ghirardelli chips limit 6, and there were $1/3 coupons, so about $1.50 per bag.

I too make a lot of fudge around this time of year. Week before last Publix had Nestle chips BOGO for around 2.50 (for two bags), or 1.25 per bag. I had .50 coupons that doubled, so I got 12 bags for .25 per bag. That was a smoking deal that I haven't seen anywhere else. Wish I had had more coupons and could have bought more.

this is the same deal I got...they did this deal last year, too (but last year, there was a blinkie involved, also).
If you cannot find them for $1 or less, head to Sam's...that's what I do. It's $7 and change for a 72 oz. bag (I think)...this is the equivalent to 6 12 oz. bags.
