Canned Pumpkin

Hi fellow HCW members!
I'm looking for the best deal on any canned pumpkin out there. I have access to the following:WM, Target, CVS, WAGS, Kroger, and Randall's.

I'd love to hear if any knows of a GD even if it doesn't involve Qs (GASP!).

I'd like to know where too. I don't think it will go on sale here this year because of the shortage. The lowest price i saw here was $1.27 for small can. I use to be able to get it for $.69-$.79 a can around Thanksgiving.

large can at Walmart is 2.22 and the small can is around 1.50.

my friend at work told me that the aldis in town had them .99 ea I plan on going there this wkend and stocking up while I can .

This week at my Kroger (DFW TX) small can is $1.39 and big can is $2.19. Randall's/Tom Thumb had big can at $2.29, don't remember small can price there.

I don't remember seeing any sales at all last year, and no clearance. In years past I got some real cheap on clearance shortly after Thanksgiving, .30-.50 a can.

I haven't seen any sales this year either, so I got some cheap yams and plan on boiling and pureeing them instead. They'll keep well in the freezer. Here in the south, we like our sweet potatoes more than pumpkin anyway!

I am not sure about the best place on sale but you can use the Libby's Canned vegetables coupon on the Libbys canned pumpkin.

There was just an article about this in my paper yesterday. Apparently there was a bad harvest this year and last which is why we've not seen good sales. Apparently Nestle, who cans the majority of pumpkin sold in the U.S. is saying that there might be a shortage this year and no good sales. This is from the L.A. Times. I hope this is ok to post:

Libby's has it on their website that some of their canned pumpkin will not be available till next fall due to poor growing conditions,my local shop & save said they will not be getting it for a year , I have enough too see me through the year

I saw this coming I kept asking questions at my grocery store .
