HELP Free or Nearly Free Veggies - How do you do it?

Hello all,

I just read an interesting post about all of the free and nearly free veggies that people have in their freezers.

What deals do you do to get free veggies?

My local stores are: Price Chopper, Target, Walmart, Kmart (not a super K - no food), Family Dollar, Dollar General and Hannaford.

Please help! We don't eat veggies as often as we should because produce is so expensive and frozen veggies are too.

Thanks!

Well right now most of us are getting them at Kroger as part of the megasale. It all depends on what stores you have - and I am not familiar with yours (except for Target). If you have a super Target last year they came out with a .50 off broccoli and a .50 off cauliflower and I stocked up then - but not sure if that will happen again. Most of the time, free veggies depends on having double and triple coupons in my area - but your area might be different. I also think Walmart once had a rolle back on GG Steamers for $1 and there was a $1/1 coupon out. If you do not get high value coupons for frozen veggies, you can always trade for them, too.

I'm going to have to start trading for stockpiles of frozen veggies. I hear you can mail stuff out on dry ice and in styrafoam boxes.

In my area, the only stores I have are WM, FD, DG, Target, & albertsons. Albertsons has been the only store I have been able to get free veggies because of tripled coupons.

Price Chopper was doing the double and triple coupons for a while, but they stopped it over the summer. I asked a CSM why, and they said not enough people were participating to make it worth the wasted ad space!

I've been getting mine at Giant Eagle for FAQ. Birdseye have been running $1/1 on and off for a few weeks now. I just keep loading up since we go through 1-2 bags each day!

I just realized that my Price Chopper doubles coupons up to .99 cents. Now I've just gotta figure out what the best deals are and where to get the coupons! Woohoo!
