LOOKING TO BUY: Carpet steamer/washer/vacuum. NEED ADVICE

Calling in someone to clean the carpets is just getting rediculou$

I am looking for advice, opinions, et al on buying a new carpet steamer/washer to do it myself.

Of course I want the most bang for my buck,
not necessarily the most expensive machine.

I would probably be washing 1000sq feet 4-5 times each year.

Love my Hoover steamvac! got it at Walmart ... my mom's newer model is even better bc the brush on the upholstry cleaner part rotates- mine doesnt (mine is at least 5-6 yrs old).
I have found though that the Bissell cleaner (Oxy-something in a blue bottle) works better than the Hoover solution. believe I paid about $150 for mine(full price ... this was during my pre-coupons and sales days when I bought EVERYTHING at walmart) ... cant find the same one now on walmart.com.... would give you the model # but not at home sorry! but it works great :)

I love my hoover steamvac. Paid 139 for it at Walmart. Has rotating brushe heads on the bottom that really get the carpet clean and spots outs. It can get rather heavy with a full tank of water but it has seperate tanks for the dirty/clean water. It has an upholstry brush also that works on stairs, car seats, furniture etc. I will never purchase another bissell product due to they break fast! I went through 2 bissell cleaners before my hoover and hated I did not get the hoover first. Has great reviews other than the heaviness of the prodcut with a full water tank. Good Luck

I have had this over 6 years a little pricey but money well spent.
2 dogs and 2 teens who constantly treck dirt all over the house are forgetting to take shoes off needless to say dirty cream carpets... It keeps it clean and looking new on over 4000+ sq ft. There are attachments for doing the stairs and my cream couch always up to scratch.

Easy to use:
It comes with the bladder bag for clean and dirty water and very easy clean. I always use the Heavy duty cleaner from Home Depot in mine and works great. Occasionally I use a spray but don't buy the manufacturer products. It sweeps up the dog hair in a pile that is invisible to me on the carpets too...

I would replace this with the same or updated model if it ever broke down. Good Luck in your decision remember it will last a while so don't go too cheap or it defeats the purpose..

Cleaning carpets seems like a never ending battle :hectic1:

I think God wouldn't have moved me to the country if he wanted my carpets to be clean all the time! :shrug7: I am just sayin'
