NEED Health Insurance PLEASE HELP

HI - not sure if this is the correct place for this - we are at it again without ANY insurance - NOT GOOD. I carried it then got laid off awhile ago, we paid out the yazoo and then just realized we cannot afford to pay $2500 every 3 months and not go to the doctor.....it would be for DH and I and our 2 little ones, luckily the older ones are covered by their dad....we just need a solid plan that takes care of the basics - is there ANYONE that has a plan they like and can afford?

Have you looked at getting the two younger kiddo's on medicaid or chip? Chip is on a sliding scale...so you will pay for a portion of it (although the premiums can be super cheap)...but you tend to have no out of pocket expenses besides the premium.

As for you guys...no advice, I tried to get insurance when my medicaid ran out (after having a baby) and it was a joke...I gave up and just paid for stuff out of pocket.

We have a place her called the open door health clinic that helps people in your situation. You get to see a doctor and get your meds. Is there anything like that where you live?

hate to give you bad news.........but there isn't anything for you or your DH. I have been living this nightmare for quite awhile now. Your children should qualify for michild though.

I am in a similar boat. My ex husband was supposed to cover me on his policy until the time when i remarried. he pays for the insurance for our two kids. But then he got remarried and put his new wife on the insurance and the federal government said (because he works for the dept of defense) he was never supposed to cover me after our divorce anyway that that is agains their policies. cobra was too much for me to pay for. I had left my job when my youngest was born and my SO's plan does not allow for domestic partnerships. I was on MA Health for a little while but now they cut me off because we make too much money, they count his income. So I can count his income to get denied help but can't be on his insurance.

I have looked into just buying a plan on my own and it would cost me roughly $1500-$2000 a year for the insurance for just myself if I went through the company I used to have. I can't see paying that. I don't want to get married just so I can get on his insurance. So i'm kind of stuck right now. I did start getting my scripts (luckily i only have 2) through Rite Aid's prescription plan and the generics are only $15.99 for a 90 day supply. I was paying $32 for one month for one.

Also as far as for sick visits for you and your dh, see if there are any "minute clinics" in your CVS's or Wags-i've heard a little about these but don't know exactly what they do help with. At least if you got sick maybe it would be an option for now. That's the scariest part! If something happens, how would you pay for health care. having a past history of DVTs I live in fear of this.

Thanks for the updates - we still are without - not so bad until lately - dd broke her arm and dh ended up heading to er and then to an out of town clinic a couple of days later - still below the thousands and thousands we were paying a quarter but yikes - happy pre-holidays to us....

If anyone does come up with any jobs that are good - that would be the cats meow! thx again...

Our county offers free or low cost insurance plans for children (not Medicaid), might be worth checking out where you live, maybe there is something like it in your county. Also schools sometimes offer minimal catastrophic medical plans for a fee, inquire with your school district. Best of luck with the job search.

yep it high...for me alone I am looking at $350 a month and to add the kids would be anoth $300 or so..so we are in the same boat as you are but my kids did get on cover kids its a state program and we pay a small fee but for me it would cost the same amd more as the other insurance co and we cant pay it..

I've heard Starbucks provides benefits for part-time employees. I don't know the details.
