I actually don't have any bad things to say about Tracphone. The only times it didn't get coverage for me was in the Kansas City airport (but did at a Kansas City hotel), and not in Canada. I do not use my phone but rarely and the minutes are good for one year with the pre-paid cards I buy. I can pony up, say $60-$100 and have minutes and service to carry me for 12 months.

I've tried several with my kids over the years and Net 10 was the one that I found is best in price of minutes and service coverage. I live in southern Mississippi and after hurricane Katrina her phone worked and my pay per month AT&T didn't have a signal.

I have the straight talk only available at walmart. I love it. I have very little down spots and phones start at $20.00. Then you have cards for $30.00 for 1000 min. and 1000 texts plus internet time. So this is what I have now you can go unlimited for 45.00. Not so bad.

My inlaws have Tracphone. They live in MI. I don't think they have a problem with service in MI, but when they travel to South Dakota, they get no service. They are looking at possibly switching to verizon pay as you go. They have a $0.99 charge for every day that you use it. But since all their kids have verizon, the airtime minutes would be free. So, they could call all of us in one day and pay $0.99.

I have Metro PCS which IMO is a good deal. I pay around $40 for everything unlimited, calls, texts, pics, internet. The only drawback is the coverage area is limited.
My youngest has a plan with Virgin Mobile. For around $35 a month he has unlimited text and pictures and 200 anytime minutes with 500 nights and weekends.
The great thing about Virgin is the phones can be bought at Walmart or Target and are cheap, and they run off of Sprint towers, so anywhere in the country where there is a Sprint tower, you will have phone coverage.

AT&T employee here- i can say our Go phones (pick your plan/pay as you go) are awesome. we have a ton of different plan options which end up being very cheap depending on your useage.

That's what we have is Verizon. I usually go trhu $30 a month (if i use it most everyday. But all my friends are on Verizon and every once in a while I get free bonus minuts. It's not too bad.

If you're looking to buy this week and are looking at tracphones I saw in the Dollar General ad they have the phone with double minutes (I guess it was double minutes for a year) for 9.99.

I just paid 9.99 for the phone only, a couple weeks ago :(

you can search google for tracphone promo codes and get extra minutes... I had bought the phone for 9.99 and bought a 120 minute card for 29.99, searched and found a code for 60 free minutes ona 120 minute card. really wish I had the double minutes thing come with the phone, I think the card you have to buy to get double minutes was pretty expensive

Thanks to everyone for the help. I did end up getting Boost mobile. Basically because it was unlimited for $50/month for myself and $1/day for my daughter. The pay $/everyday that you use it plus $ for each minute didn't seem great because she will use it every weekday when she gets out of school to let me know she is home. To me this seemed like the best deal I could find. I will rep everyone for their suggestions..
    Thanks!

I read virginmobile has 300 mintues unlimited text & web for 25 a month. They have unlimited talk plan, but it might 50 a month. Virgin mobile has great customer service, cell phones, and prices. I have had them for cell phone service and they were great. We switched the iPhone, but I would use them again. I would also look into cricket wireless because they unlimited talk and text for 25 a month.
