Got a nice check I was not expecting so I am going to buy a MUCH needed freezer so I can stockpile all of the things I keep passing up because I have no place to store them... anyone know of a good deal this week or next? I'm in Florida

Re: Stand up Frost Free Freezer

SavinWithCoupons and others--

Check the online ads for Sears, Lowes, and Home Depot stores. All three (3) stores will PRICE MATCH WITH PROOF OF CURRENT AD PRICES AND YOU CAN GET SALE PRICE AND 10% OFF DIFFERENCE--check the details with each store for their specific policies.

Also, if you have gift cards from Lowes or Home Depot, take the gift cards/coupon offers to "COMPETING" stores (i.e. Lowes gift card--Home Depot will honor "competition" same for Home Depot gift card--Lowes will honor "competition"). Just see a store manager when you check out.

Good luck--

Default Re: Stand up frost free freezer

I just bought a real nice used frost-free upright freezer off ebay a few weeks ago for $75. I would normally not recommend ebay for an appliance since it is usually pick up only, and trying to sift through all the posts to find one in your area is nearly impossible, but we got lucky (it was 20 miles from our house). It is 10 years old (they last forever) in perfect condition, and very quiet.

On a more practical note, I would suggest craigslist. There are plenty of great upright frost-free freezers for cheap. You may have to look for awhile to find the perfect one, though. In my area they go for around $100. I would try to get one that is around 10 years old or newer, and frost-free. Ours is about 17 cu ft, I think? It is a great size for us. Good luck!

Just a comment about our experience with the purchase of our frost free freezer. Make sure when you buy, the unit has wheels. Our didn't and we had to buy a kit to put adhesive wheels on the bottom for movement when I want to clean behind it. Marcia
