Default Turkeys - Gobble, gobble

I know it's kinda early however, after just reading an article in a Nebraska newspaper about turkey farms and the cost of feed and with the current market price being $.92 a pound-a new record, anyone have any ideas to start thinking about getting/saving/discounts on a turkey?

Additionally in this same article, it was said that many turkey farms are producing less turkeys because demand is for female turkey breasts (not even gonna touch that line), and not tom turkeys and they can't control what comes out of the egg.

How long can you freeze a turkey safely? Or turkey breast?

Like with any meat, as long as it's well protected in your freezer, you can safely freeze them for a year+. I have had turkey's last a little over a year and been just fine. When I freeze them, I tend to leave them in the grocery bags they came in. The extra wrapping in the plastic grocery bag gives another layer of protection from freezer burn, etc. At thanksgiving, I tend to buy several extras and then we pull one out every few months and grill them off on the BBQ. We're planning on pulling one out next month!

Thanks much. I actually checked prices today on turkeys. They were averaging around $.98 a pound.
