The .99c variety isn't of any of the "limited varieties" covered by the Q.

I had 1.00 off q's plus when I go in I always only take 4 q's and the doubler to be able to get the max.

I got several bags of salad with .51 overage.

This was a weekly deal a couple weeks ago, the coupon did match the varieties on sale. I bought 4 of them, I always try to be very careful to make sure the coupons match. Did you have problems?

What's the "doubler"? Is there some way to get coupons doubled at Safeway?

Yes, the safeway ad that comes in the paper has a coupon doubler for up to 4 coupons. They will double each coupon up to .50.
The doubler is usually on the interior of the ad, lower left side.

The "problem" was the varieties on sale in my stores did not match the coupon.

Certain regions regularly offer a doubler in their weekly ad, namely stores in Oregon and parts of SW Washington. (I don't know what other regions; you might ask in the main Safeway forum.)
