I only had the Price Chopper coupon initially, so my beginning out of pocket money was in the neighborhood of $3 + tax. After that the catalina machines kept spitting out very useful coupons, so for most purchases I spent between $.60 and $.10 for every 3 - which means I paid only a portion of the tax due. HTH
