This has got to be my WORST experience at any retailer EVER!! I went tonight and got 2 of these, got up to the check out where the girl promptly told me that if I wanted ECB's for the monitors I was not "allowed" to use the Q. She said that the district manager had told them not to accept the Q's if the customer wanted ECB's if the customer wanted the monitors anyways then to trash the ECB's after they printed
Right after telling her "forget it" a friend and member of this site had come in the store and I had told her what I was told, so as we are discussing it the Assistant Manager comes up and starts using phrases like "coupon fraud" regarding using Q's on the monitors to get ECB's and that it came down from Corporate that if the Monitors are offering ECB's they will not honor the Q, and if they do they are authorized to throw the ECB's away. I was completely in shock especially since she had the nerve to basically accuse us of coupon fraud. I at this point was so fed up, but my friend still wanted them anyways as she donates them, so she grabs a couple, goes up to the checkout and then they refuse the Q alltogether saying that the monitors are $19.99 and the Q says $20 off, which isn't true it says UP TO $20 off. I am so aggravated and annoyed with CVS right now!! Thankfully we went to another store and got them with a manager override on the Q, no questions asked.

Thank you OP. I had the $20.00 Qpon and was able to get $5 toward the Bounty (8pk) towels on sale... with the $5 and $1 Bounty Qpon from today's inserts OOP was $.49.

Thank you so much!

I was about to waste (10.00 EBs and a dollar) to do the Gillette deal (2 Fusion razors and body wash) to use some expiring coupons. And to make sure DH is stocked up so he doesn’t go buy refills at retail price.

Well with your little tip, buying the monitors even out the purchase and I broke even or made a few pennies

The young cashier was a bit puzzled with the coupons and said you can’t get it for free. I said the companies know what they are doing, and, yes, I can get it for free but you have to call the manager to approve the coupons.

While we were waiting for the manager, cashier said that her grandmother was diabetic and I said I was just going to donate them, would like one for your grandma? She said yes but wasn’t sure if Grandma could use it.

Manager (same one who called me a thief and kept my coupons a few weeks ago) came up and gave me “the evil eye” as usual swiped her card and started to walk away.

I stopped her and ask her if it was okay to give the cashier a monitor for her grandma and she said only if I gave my receipt to her. I said no problem and gave the young cashier my receipt (minus the EBs) and one monitor and told her if your grandma can’t use it just donate it, someone can use it.

Ended up to be a great day at my favorite CVS

I had a bad experience too. I don't know what happened but when I tried to do a transaction the cashier ended up with a total of $13+ for me after coupons and ECBs. I knew that was wrong, I had it calculated down to the penny and it was supposed to be 15 cents before tax. There weren't $13 worth of tax! She wouldn't void and rering it so I gathered up my coupons & ECBs, put everything back & went to another store. When I got there I realized she had kept my monitor coupon! Also a Covergirl BOGO coupon. Thank God I got all the others back, those two had given her some trouble so she had put them aside, they weren't with the others when she was handing them back.

I did have one monitor coupon left (was going to do 2 transactions so I wouldn't have a $10 ECB to roll) so I was able to make $5. Makes me mad because I had to go to work, no time to come home and get another monitor coupon. Also too far, not worth the time and gas. And now it's expired. :(

And at the other store I discovered I had been right about the total. It was just over $1 with tax. I wasn't able to get the Covergirl Outlast because I didn't have any extra BOGO coupons but both of those would have been free anyway. NOT $13. I still dont' know how she came to that.

This is when I wish I would have kept those coupons. When I realized tax would be more than $1 I through them away. I don't need them but was going to give them away but for $2 I wasn't going to do it, now it would have been a money maker. Shows me to save everything.

There is *no way* that this 'came down from corporate' or else there would be *a lot* of people on here upset that they couldn't use their monitor coupons to get ecbs. If they are not going to allow coupons to be used on monitor-deals, then they need to write that into the ad and also on the sale tags on the shelf. I went and got a few of the onetouch monitors today w/ no problem. The store manager even said that it was great that he got to make the extra handling fee on the coupon while I was able to get some almost-free extrabucks. I also recently told them store to order in extra Contour monitors, telling them that it was a good ecb deal coming up and that there were coupons out that make them free so they'd want extra on hand. If there were crazy directives banning coupon-use on ecb-producing monitors, there is no way that I would have had those 2 experiences in the last 3 days.

I'm betting the coupon was refused at the register simply b/c the person didn't know how to handle the coupon. At many stores, any coupon over $10 or $15 requires a manager to scan their card to approve the coupon. I'm betting the person you got didn't realize this and thinks that anything that beeps isn't 'allowed'.

I did have a 'similar' experience at another store a couple of weeks ago, w/ the 'buy a contour and colgate, get $5 ecbs' deal. I was just buying 2 contours b/c I didn't see the toothpaste on the shelf, and I figured that either the bucks would print right then or I'd get them when I got the toothpaste later at another store. SM told me that I wouldn't get the bucks if I only got the monitors. I got the monitors, ecbs printed, SM took them off of my receipt and tried to keep them from me, saying I hadn't 'fullfilled the offer'. (keep in mind that in this instance the receipt actually said at the bottom 'ascensia, buy 2 get 5 eb', which basically advertises that you can get 2 monitors and get the ebs.) I stood and argued for several minutes and let it be known that they were mine and she couldn't keep them, and finally she gave them back and I left. Oh, and after we left, while putting our babies in the car, the SM and another employee came outside and looked around like they were looking for us.

I'm still working on my email to corp about how my friend and I were treated that day. I really think you should write in about your experience, too. Nothing will change if we don't tell someone higher-up how customers who want to spend good money in their stores (yes, coupons *are* money) are being treated.

The Asst Manager is the one who refused the Q, of course she is also the one who said using the Q's to get ECB's was coupon fraud. Corporate will be getting an email from both my friend and myself in the next day or so.
She also said something about in the ad the fine print said no discounts can be applied, only I thought this was a "hidden" deal, not in any ads, if thats the case she really truly is full of crap.
