Clarification on Safeway Summer Savings Marathon-cookie q's & what's legit

Hi~

I've been reading through all the threads on this deal and I keep seeing people use multiples of the Safeway Q in the Olympic book on Safeway cookies which are on the deal. (Easy enough to buy 24 pkgs of them and earn the $20. Cat.) I snagged a pile of the Olympic Booklets and the $1/2 Q says "one per customer". So how do you use multiples of this as I've seen MANY in deals? Need to know before I take my stack in tomorrow. I have a checker who roots for me but don't want to press my luck! Any good reasons or explanation I could give? (I am going to donate most of the cookies.)

If the Q states one per customer, they should not be accepting more than one per transaction. I do not know how they are able to do the deal the way they are saying. The only thing I can think of is that the chashier is not noticing fine print.

If you know that it says "one per customer" then it would be wrong to use more than one in a transaction. Just my .02 cents.

That is exactly it. Cashiers don't ususally read all the fine print, so it is up to us to make sure that we are using them correctly.

Since the coupon does state that it is only "1 per customer" then you should only use 1 per transaction. Just because it doesn't "beep" does NOT mean that it is being used correctly.

Thanks for all of the input here. I truly thought there might be some exception to what seemed clear language to me. I really like the Store Manager, Asst. Manager and the checker who also fills in as Manager sometimes...and I would never want to do anything to make them think less of me. It is very nice to have them root for me doing the deals and soooo patient with all my coupons and special requests, so being on the up and up is important to me. I do think I will talk with the Manager tomorrow before I shop so we can be clear on what is expected and fair. I always tell them about HCW and sometimes I can clear up some of their questions!!!! Sometimes they are in the dark...the Manager didn't understand the Living Well Promo...and when I learned the term "catalina"...so did the checkers!

Here is my update....reporting in from the field!

I did talk to my Safeway Manager about the cookie q's in the Olympic Booklet, yesterday, July 25th. To my surprise, and his, he had never seen one. Neither had the long time clerk I spoke to in the store as well. As a matter of fact the daytime Courtesy Clerk at the desk did not know the Olympic Booklets were to be distributed BEFORE the Olympics. My husband was the first one to ask for one on a trip to the store and when the clerk balked at giving him one he pointed out a coupon that expires before the Olympics! Another thing that is happening is that the cookie q is on a loose sheet in the booklet with other q's, that apparently is falling out and many booklets do not have the coupons. Mass confusion.

So...bottom line is the clerks don't even know where these coupons are coming from and may not even be seeing many. My Manager gave me his philosophy on customers using multiples and what he thought was fair.

When he said he did not know the q existed I told him I did not either until I read about it on HCW. I told him about the site and that HCW was extremely concerned about correct coupon usage and the prevention of fraud. He said fraud was a problem and I mentioned that at HCW they do not tolerate discussions of any misuse...and he added...so they boot you off...and I said yes! I think he appreciated the conversation!

I hope I gave HCW it's "props"! I was able to do the deal again for a $20. cat...but it still printed $10. which the Asst. Mgr. fixed. Is anyone getting their correct cats?
