Tell me if I'm getting this wrong:
You buy two $50 GCs for $100 + $9.90 activation ($4.95 x 2) = 109.90
You get $5 ECB back and you can apply for two $25 GC's ($25 each?)?
So if you keep the original $100, you'll have gotten $150 in GCs for $54.90? | You need to buy 2 Amex GCs to get 1 Spring Fling GC; you can do the deal 2x, so you would need to buy 4 Amex GCs to get 2 Spring Fling GCs.
Let's assume you do the deal once. The 2x $50 GC = $100 is a wash because it's just you converting the form of your money, from cash to GC. It's still available to you.
After $5 in ECBs, you pay $4.90 in activation fees. Then you send in the form to get a $25 GC, so you're ahead by $20.10.
So basically, to do the deal one time you will have "spent" $109.90, but you will have $130.00 when all is said & done (the difference being $20.10).
Be careful which $50 Amex GCs you buy. I bought the teen ones by mistake thinking all the $50 Amex GCs were all the same, but the activation fee is more for the teen ones (I posted a warning about it on the Amex deal thread). Just make sure you double check the activation fee before you buy the card. |
