My sister has been in Chile this year, and is scheduled to go back next week. I'm very thankful she is not there or en route, now!

I also have relatives in Hawaii, as well as many fellow military wives that I know. Prayers for everyone's safety!

Holy cow! Is anybody watching the news right now? I just turned my tv on and apparently about 3 hours ago, an 8.9 quake hit Japan. It is showing a tsunami wave as it happens. I have never seen anything like this. And they are saying that they are starting to evacuate in Hawaii and Alaska, from what I understand. Prayers to anyone directly or indirectly this is having an effect on. This is unreal.

CNN is showing live coverage. There are also warnings going out to California and Oregon.....also other countries in the Pacific.

Yes, Washington was just upgraded from a "tsunami watch" to a "tsunami warning."
The videos of the tsunami are so sad. It's the seventh largest in history. It's amazing how far the ocean receded before the tsunami hit.
I've been sitting here praying for the Japanese people and texted a few friends to also as they sure could use our prayers.

I hadn't heard about this. I just woke up, and your post was my first info about it. My prayers go out to all who are in the path of this. I'm still breathless, after realizing that my sister and her husband were in Hawaii for 2 weeks...and flew home two days ago!

XU...glad your sister and her hubby are home and safe. I still can't believe what I was seeing when that 13 ft wall of water hit Japan. I can barely grasp all this. I watched it, am still watching, yet I can't imagine the horror of seeing that coming towards someone who is totally helpless to do anything about it.

i ak the whole HCW community if possible could please all take a moment of silence for all those that were lost in the Tsunami . This is so sad. :( not only that there are alot of things happening in the world as we all speak. massive flooding in the US all over! I live by the river and im hoping it doesnt come out of its banks. the town next to me is under water. I fear there is more to come. Tornado outbreaks. now this massive earthquake and Tsunami. How much more can a world take. Price gouging. Oil and gas prices are already soaring. The Depresswion is going to get so deep.
