8.9 earthquake hits Japan...tsunami heading for Hawaii and US west coast

I know how u feel! my cousin is married to a military man stationed in Japan Im very Thankful they came back 2 weeks ago to there home in Georgia to be on a break ..but they are now dealing with Tornados. They are ok. She said govt already called him and he has to go asap to meet for relief aid/search and rescue/retrieval?

I hadn't heard about this. I just woke up, and your post was my first info about it. My prayers go out to all who are in the path of this. I'm still breathless, after realizing that my sister and her husband were in Hawaii for 2 weeks...and flew home two days ago!

One of my grandmothers live in Seattle and my Uncle Jeff lives in Portland, been on the edge of my seat this morning. Thinking good thoughts for everyone on the coast and in Japan.

I have a friend in Kauai right now. They were evacuating to higher ground last night. Doesn't sound like it was too bad there, though, from what I read this morning. SOme of the Aleutians got a 5 foot wave. My hubby went down to Seward last night and called me because the siren was going off. I haven't found anything about there yet, but I don't think they got hit. Maybe some wave action, but I'm not expecting anything major for there. Some coastal areas in CA had some boats ripped from moorings.

I stayed up till 2:30am watching France24 waiting to hear about Hawaii. Have the plates shifted enough now to place more pressure on others? Ack.We're kind of overdue for a big one. Last "big" one was a 7.2 up the road from us, but we really felt it.

My niece and her family live in Japan. I got to chat with her on facebook this morning. They are all fine. It was so scary not knowing for a few hours.
