Ditto. I wouldn't have purchased this house if the area was as bad then as it is now.

As for FL, I've pretty much lived here my entire life. DH is from PA (a good area ). With him being a 100% service-connected, disabled veteran, the state provides us with phenomenal benefits.

We had contemplated moving to his hometown (way pricey, but the schools there are top-notch). His hometown is also very Christian, so we wouldn't necessarily feel the need to send them to a private Christian school. With the school system being so top-notch, we wouldn't need to send them to private school at all.

HOWEVER, the state benefits that FL provides to us are too important to pass up. The biggest is free college tuition & fees for both of our children. The second is an almost complete property tax exemption.

Believe it or not, the Christian school is cheaper than the other private schools. However, sending them to a Christian school is something we both want. We do attend church and we do teach it at home, but we also want the Christian educational foundation.

I just WANT IT ALL. I want to be able to send them to the school AND get a different house AND another car.

I'm afraid if we "wait it out" until our house is paid-off, A.) the housing market will bounce back and we'll be priced out of the market we want to purchase in and B.) I won't want a mortgage payment again (kinda like when you pay off a car, you never want another car payment again)

With DH being 100% disabled, we're on a "fixed income" per se. There is no opportunity for more money - unless I get more work. The guy I work for is only 1 guy and he's a salesperson. There's only so much work he can do. If I went to work, it would have to be full-time - as we'd need money to pay for daycare. Then the logistics of getting DD#1 from school to daycare (Pre-K is only 3-hours/day). DH has a TON of medical appointments at the VA (which is over an hour away - each way). He's not like me (go to the doctor once a year). He goes to the VA A LOT - sometimes everyday. We're the 2nd (or the 3rd) busiest VA in the nation, so there is NO wiggle room for scheduling appointments back-to-back, etc. Some departments have a 6-month waiting list, etc.

    Okay, now I'm rambling....

Follow your heart with your choices and pray about it. I'm sure the answers will come. I totally understand about the VA appts. My DH is also 100% disabled. We have two cars but one is older and we have spent a ton of money fixing it but we can't afford a car payment now with a house payment.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.
