Crazy!!!

So my cousin just found out on monday tht she is 34 weeks pregnant!!! She had no idea....I never thought that was possible but I guess so....she is 18 and has never had a baby so she has nothing! I am trying to help as much as possible! I just wanted to talk about it a lil...lol

That is crazy! I cant see how anyone could be that far and not know. I know you said se is 18 but someone should have noticed some change.

BUT I have saw on TV where some did not know until the day the baby was born.Myself I always knew way early along

Do you think maybe she kinda suspected but was in denial? Being that young, I could understand that. How could she not feel the baby kicking before now? I sure did.

I knew this one lady that I used to work with that didn't know she was pregnant until she was like 7 or 8 months. She didn't show at all. Then not long after she found out, within a few weeks she started showing big time. It was the strangest thing. I mean she had a really big belly.

I also had gone to college with this girl that claimed when she had her daughter she was like 5 or 6 months along before she found out. Well, I was curious because you always here people saying how can you not know if you are pregneant, so I asked her. She said she never had morning sickness, was still getting her cycles, no typical signs. She said the way she found out was that her blood vessels were kinda popping out some or something like that and her and her mom looked in a medical book of some sort and that was something listed as a sign of pregnancy.

I also know my step-brother's wife was like 3 or 4 months along before she found out with her last child. She had already had 3 children and was happily married. No reason to be in denial. Well, she was still getting her cycles but they were lighter than normal, but never thought anything of it. Well, she started not feeling well. She thought she had the flu or something and went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant.

I can't really judge, because I never had any children so I don't know!!! The only thing I can say is that everyone is different and maybe people don't really get the typical signs or they may get a touch of a symptom and not thing anything of it. I really don't know.

The only reason I wondered about the denial part of it all was because of her age. I know at 18 I would have been scared of exactly what you mention, judging by her peers, parents, or just being plain scared of her own future.

I haven't known anyone personally who has experienced it as you have, but I believe the stories. There are too many out there for it not to be possible to not know. It happens more than we know I guess.

Well congratulations to the new mommy! Hope she and baby are doing well and maybe your family will be able to throw together a quick little baby shower for her to get the basics together before the little darling arrives.

My DD has a friend who didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor.

Even then she thought she was having really bad menstrual cramps. She went to the hospital to have them give her something for the pain. When they told her she was having a baby, she said "you better check that again, I have a class in 15 minutes"


She was kind of a big girl and we saw her not too long before she had the baby and you couldn't tell at all.

Her Mom questioned whether she had really not known, and the Dr. told her it wasn't really as uncommon as you would think. She hadn't missed any periods, and had just started her first year of college. He said in all the excitement and planning for graduating high school and preparing for college that she honestly probably hadn't noticed the baby kicking. Or if she did feel funny that she was probably too stressed to notice.

Good thing she had the instinct to go to the hospital!

I guess it's just me but I just can't believe how someone wouldn't know, but every one is different, bodies react differently, you just never know. Just goes to show you that you can't judge people based on your own experiences.

With my second, I didn't realize it till I was 16 weeks or 4 months. I was in really good shape then. I just couldn't figure out why my pants/jeans were getting so tight in the thighs. Thought they must be shrinking more than they should when washed. That was my first clue. I was still having regular cycles and everything. I never had morning sickness with any of my four kids. When my taste buds went off, that was annoying. Nothing tasted good at all...kind of metallic all the time. Only thing that didn't was Mexican food. lol

Some folks didn't even realize I was pregnant till I was 8 months along with that one. So it does happen. With all the others, I knew almost immediately. And when I had the miscarriage, I knew when that happened as I suddenly no longer "felt" pregnant, even though I was. The body does strange things.
