Well lets me what kind of major do you want. In Feb my aunt was told he had cancer and she passed away in Aug. My Grandmother passed away in Sept and i just broke my foot last night. I guess this was my year for bad luck nothing else has really happened. Oh yes it has I got great deals at Wal mart tonight. So that means I am done with my Christmas shopping for next year all but my own kids but they are always last.

    1. We purchased a home in June.

Pretty exciting as 2010 was a year of transition (selling a house, moving to a rental, relocating to a new town, stress, stress, stress).

    2. We got the PERFECT cat in November, she is an angel. She was abandoned and we adopted her.

    3. We took a wonderful vacation in March to California to visit my brother. Both my kids celebrated their birthdays in California in 2010 while we were on vacation. My daughter's birthday was at Lake Tahoe. My son's birthday was in Somona at Train Town.

Bad year for my daughter. Countless illnesses including whooping cough and gastritis. Also two allergic reactions to medicines. Near stress fracture in her back, nerve damage in her leg, diagnosed with pre-diabetes and a thyroid condition.

On a plus note she lost 16 pounds and was able to attend two dance conventions. But she did miss her recital because of the back injury.

Our cat died. But we got two new ones. Mom and baby. We love them!

Part of the roof blew off of the house. Twice. Our neighbor fixed it for a very good price. But now we need to get the roof replaced.

Countless plumbing problems. Replaced two toilets. All of the plumbing under the kitchen sink. Prior to that, countless plumbers coming to unclog said sink. Replaced pipe to the main line and also put a shut off valve to the whole house in an accessible place. Good thing because the last plumber needed to use that! He found solder from the pipe replacement which caused the shower to leak. And he seems to have fixed the hot water heater which was constantly going out.

Husband bought a new Hyundai. Daughter and I are far less than thrilled about that because it is putting a huge strain on our finances.

My dad was in and out of the hospital countless times for brain bleeds and a TIA.

    Nephew got engaged.

My niece Makenna was born, her sister turned one and my son turned 2! Our parents wanted Grandkids and now they have 3 within 3 years!! Those were really the only good things (that I can recall at this moment) that happened in 2011. Otherwise, I am very happy to put 2011 behind me b/c I lost too many loved ones and one to suicide. I realized that I just didn't live enough for my well being. 2012 is going to be different. It has to be!

I lost 105lbs as of yesterday, thanks to gastric bypass!! That is my best event of the year, plus the health benefits that go along with it.

2011 was not such a good year for us as a family.

I had knee surgery in June
DH had neck surgery in Sept and is still having issues, more than likely will be having another surgery
My sister started off the year with back surgery, that she is still recovering from
My MIL was diagnosed with diabetes among other things

All in all 2011 was just a bad year. Im hoping for a somewhat good 2012. I know no year will go by without its issues, but I hope those issues are easily fixed and do not cause too much strain on the family as a whole

    I agree...

Joplin Tornado for us. Only an hour away and it is a huge deal for this area...and for our town we were hit with the hail storm that was preceding the tornado...the hail storm hit our town with soft ball size hail. this has meant over 4000 roofs have had to be replaced. My sister works for an insurance broker..and believe me..this has been a huge deal.

Everyone insurance premiums will go up, and for Missouri many people will be lucky to even find a company to insure then..once they have a home again.

Every single time I drove through Joplin I cry, for how much work has been done..it is astounding the damage that brought Joplin to it's knee's. It will never look the same, the tree's are gone, the buildings are gone, it still to this day looks like bombs went off over and over and over. And so many people being killed or maimed.

    I really hate tornado's.

For me personally the tornado, and watching cancer ravenge my mother. The worst situation has been the school not allowing my son to go to school. I haven't cried that much in my life...the end.

I'm sorry that 2011 sucked for so many, hopefully 2012 will be a better year for all

Now, that 2011 is over, I realize it seemed to fly by for me but the last few months of the year were extremely stressful for me - I don't think I was ever under so much stress. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy in October, my parents were dealing with legal issues and we were dealing with issues with the sellers of the house we were trying to buy (when we finally thought all was good the bank appraisal came in $12K lower than the agreed upon price).

My parent's (well really my father's) legal issues came to a head on Nov 16th when my dad was arrested for a probation violation (even though he was not in violation when they came to their house and the judge had agreed on special circumstances for his probation). After 2 weeks of my mom speaking with the lawyer and the lawyer trying to petition the judge, my mom was informed my dad would be held until court on December 27th and she had to tell him (so he would not only miss Thanksgiving but Christmas too).

    There were some positives though:
    - the bank increased their appraisal on the house slightly and we were able to come to an agreement with the sellers and made settlement on November 28th so we are officially home owners
    - someone my uncle knows was able to pull some strings and got my dad released Dec 16th so he was home for Christmas (though he did spend the weekend in the hospital bc after a month of him complaining of chest pains the guards finally had him taken to the hospital where he spent the first 24 hours chained to a bed and then all of a sudden he was released)
    - My boyfriend proposed on Christmas
    - My dad's court hearing went okay on December 27th and he was told probation would continue (though the judge would not acknowledge the mistake she made or apologize for the time he spent in jail)

After seeing what others have faced in 2011 I am thankful that most of my issues have gotten better and I still have my family with me.
