My employer pays close to 1900 a month for 2 Children....
Does your brother make really good money....that would be the only reason he would get stuck with that kind of amount.
Hi
Just found out my brother pays $1400 a month for child support for his child. I've not known anyone else who has to pay this, isn't that quite a bit?
Looking for some opinions on ppl who have experience with it.

the child is a teen and yes, he makes quite a good salary. Is there a limit to these types of payments? How often can the mother ask for more?
Limit? no limit .... It's base on a percent of your pay I believe Before taxes. I believe the mother can take you back yearly..... (Have known a few to do that)

If he makes a lot of money, it doesn't seem unreasonable. Children of affluent parents usually enjoy a higher standard of living, and I don't see why that would or should be affected if the parents are separated. I'm just talking personal opinion, though, no experience with child support.

its a formula based on both parents incomes. So if she didn't work or worked a low-pay or part time job and he was a high-payed exec or something, the payemnts can be ridiculous. I was told they can only be taken back to court if either parents have a significant change in their incomes,
thanks for all the posts, I'm understand how it works better now.
My husband goes to court every three years in the state of Texas and it has been raised every time not sure if she has requested it or if the state automatically reviews it.
She can try yearly I believe, but if his salary has not changed chances are she won't get much more. But on the other hand if his salary takes a dive, he can go to court to request it be dropped to a more reasonable amount based on his new salary.
In my employers case the child support was reasonable based on his salary but his alimony was sooooo wrong! She gets $9k a month! Its eventually going to take him down noone can keep that up and live a life worth living.
