Been looking at getting a wii off of Craigslist. Would you consider getting a wii off of Craigslist that was used. My sister said she would buy lots of things used...but a gaming system not from a place like game stop is something she wouldn't do. Why not?

gamestop has used systems, if you're going to buy a used system I would go there. At least then you have some sort of guarantee that it will work.

Buying gaming systems used online is risky. All systems can all be hacked (to modify it for cheating and using pirated games) and if the manufacturer finds out, they can "ban" the system from online use. Hacking can also cause many other problems once the system completes an update and render it useless.

no not unless I know the person. People get took on those kind of things all to often even at gamestop. I have got things from there like games ect and then right after the guarantee time is up they seem to mess up. They rework this stuff there that is used and sometimes what they fix was caused by something else and then that same problem has again because of the lack of the root of the problem being fix also.

I know this stuff is on the high side but its not worth paying half the price or a little more then have it tear up 3 to 6 months later. My boys have a xbox 360 that they got years ago and one of their friends got a used at gamestop that did just that. When you buy these used I feel that you are asking for trouble unless you know the person and know that the kids have just out grown it or moved on. This way you know if its been reworked ever, hit on ect...

I dont know how cheap you are gettting a used wii for but you can get a new wii bundle for like $150 or so now. Just watch for them in the sales ad..
