The man I was talking with at the main office today said that they have right at 2,000 employee's total at all the different places they have a company at and that about half of them have garnishments for one reason or another. He did say that some do walk out after the first payment is took out of thier checks.

I kind of knew that my x was full of crap and was just trying to get out of paying it but that is just to bad..this is one thing that he is going to have to face up to even if he dont like it. LOL I can hear it now him telling people how I am takeing all his check for childsupport and that I would not work with him on this. He had his chance to pay me and would not so I wash my hands of that..

I wonder if TN Is one of the states that throws them in jail eventually for non paying. You ought to look into that too

We have had several employees who checks get garnished. We had one employee who dodged it for years. Finally we got letters that demanding that it be done or we would get in trouble. He gets no tax return at all since he was in the rear. I think he will be a very old man before he pays it all off.

Anyways your ex was stupid not to just pay you. I hope you get the back pay too that he owes you.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.

yes we are..she told me today that they will collect what he is already behind but the amount that they will have him picked up for being behind on starts on dec 1st..so if 45 days after dec 1st if he is behind $500 more behind they will have him picked up(something about when paper work starts in the computer cycle for new cases they take on). She said as long as he dont quit his job we wont have to worry about that tho ..

He may find another job then quit but I dont see him just up and quitting for his wife wont stand for that. I hope he dont tho for its just going to make things worse on him in the long run plus I need the money now but getting a income tax for one amount each year also sounds good. Then there is the fact that if he is in jail he cant work to even earn a pay check or income tax check either one..So I hope he just keeps working so they can take it from his check and be done with it...however seeing him go to jail would be funny it would be a kind of payback for all the crap he has put me and the boys threw.

I live in Va and all I can say is don't get your hopes up. MY kids are almost 17 and 15 and I did not get Child Support for many years well it started about 3 years ago. he is behind 47,000.00 (yes 47,000.00) and he only has been in jail one time for 6 months. They have taken his taxes one time for 500.00. Then in Sept he up and went to CO so it has not stopped. I called the child support office and told them a few weeks later they sent me a letter tell me i had to tell them where he was working. What are they getting paid for I am no PI.

I live in TN and have worked in the court system for over 30 years. If the company does not honor the garnishment, you can sue the company for all that is owed. I once had a case in which I got a judgment against a woman. She was the asst. mgr. of her store. When the garnishment was served, she threw it in the garbage. After 10 days, I sued the company and they had to pay the entire amount. I would just guess that she got fired over that. In your instance, however, they cannot fire him over a garnishment. In TN, you can attach his tax refund check. You will need legal help, probably from the child support division, to do that. My advice is to not speak to him about these matters. Keep your cards close to your chest. Do not give away your strategies. If he knows what you are planning, he can possibly checkmate your moves. Don't let him have the upper hand. I think in TN you cannot touch a spouse's income, so, his wife will not get a garnishment.

No they wont garnish his wife income. The money the wife makes is not counted in anyway nor is my now hubbies counted on how much childsupport I can get from him.

I dont talk to him anymore than I HAVE TO! and then I dont give out much info even when he is saying how so and so works even if I know better. Its hard to bite my tongue sometimes but I do for like you said I may need those cards later on in the game.

I do know that the judge here will put him in jail for lack of payment I know of a few in there now for it. And if he was to quit the job then ask for the amount to be lowered the judge will not do that either. The judge tells them you quit by choice but your kid/kids still have needs.

I know its looks like they could just run the SS number of the person and find out where they are working. I mean childsupport is supported by the law so why would there nto be a law to allow for the SS number to be used to find out the info on a person so they can be made to make childsupport payments.

I know that you can request a copy of his income tax papers one time a year that should let you know where he is working, if its not under the table that is and he is filing for one each year.
