Just for fun - do you believe in ghosts? And do you have any in your house?

DS has recently gotten into watching Ghosthunters and we've been talking about ghosts. I will admit that I am not sure what to think but I know sometimes in our (very old) house, I see things out of the corner of my eye but there's nothing there when I turn around so maybe we do have a ghost or two.

I am curious as to what everyone else thinks? Do you believe in ghosts? if so, do you think you've ever seen one - in your own home or somewhere else?

I believe I have seen or felt them. We lived in one house where strange things would happen. The locked door would just swling open slowly. I would see balls of light flying around the room. And when I was in bed I would feel what felt like a cat pouncing on me. My roommate had a cat but it died. This was after the cat died. At the time that part didn't scare me. I just felt like it was in fact a cat. But the rest? Scared me.

When I moved back into my parent's house, I once woke up to see what looked like a neon green outline of a person with no head fly through the window. Not long after, my mom called from work. She had dialed the wrong number. Was trying to call her sister to say that their SIL had died. Someone had chopped up her head with an axe. We learned later that it was my uncle (my mom's brother) that did it.

At still another place where I lived, I could feel people touching me as I slept and I would notice weird, perfumy smells that did not resemble any perfume that I owned.

Then at work, a coworker died. Things would go flying off the shelves at work. And go missing, only to turn up later right where we thought they were. New employees would claim they would feel a cold hand on their shoulder, turn around and see a ghost that they described as the dead employeed. They would always quit right after that. We also had strange things happen to the lights after she died.

The only ghost I believe in is the HOLY GHOST!

I do believe, and I've seen them. When my older kids were in high school, we lived in a house in which the previous owner had passed away. Her name was Imogene, and she stayed there long after her death. I would see her going through the room behind me, when I looked in a mirror sometimes. My son heard her coughing and sneezing one night when he was the only one home. Then, one year, on Christmas Eve, the door on the side of our house opened, then shut. There was no wind blowing at all, and the motion detector light never came on. After that, we never saw or heard her again.

My daughter lived in a house with her father when she was around 19 or 20. It was across the street from a cemetary. Every morning, they'd have to find their keys, shoes, purse, wallet...or something...that had been moved while they were sleeping.

Now, we live in a house where we are only the second owners. The original owner built the house by hand. He passed away about 10 years before we bought it. His wife passed away less than year before we bought it. And (according to the neighbor) their son killed himself in our house. I'm not sure which one of them ate toast, but often I am awakened during the night, smelling toast. My husband smells it too. But when we check it out, the toaster is cool, and nobody's in the kitchen. Also, sometimes I can feel the vibration of someone walking through the house, when I'm the only one here.

Luckily, all of my ghosts have been friendly!

I believe that whatever someone believes can exist. If people are open to the existence of ghosts, ghosts exist for them. I'm not open to the existence and therefore don't believe. Or the other way around. Either way, for me, no. I'm not willing to dismiss it for others.

This is our ghost. Can see him/her..but he/she hung out on my scale for about four hours. The scale said aprx 2035 to 2039 back and forth changing every second for 4 hours all on it's own. So I took a few pics.

i've had two relatives come to me in a dream, one on the night they passed, the other a few weeks later, also i've smelled cigarette smoke whenever my father is with me ~ he's been gone nearly 12 years ~ i don't smoke, no one around me smokes, and it's usually at odd times, like in my car alone or other places where no smoke could be

I admit we like to watch the Ghost Hunters show too. I have a had the I thought I seen something out of the corner of my eye happen before too it really freaks me out! I have smelled cigarette smoke smell in my house from time to time. Woke up from a sound sleep to a picture frame falling from a shelf and once from the wall ( this one actually smashed) It was of my 3 kids so not why but it scared the crap out of me I was alone that night with the kids that night. I thought some one was breaking through a bedroom window and when to check my kids rooms before I discovered it was a picture frame from the dinning room wall. I think it would be kind of neat to actually see something but I think it would terrify be horribly bad. I remember hearing stories about my grand parents house stories were the under ground rail road and tunnels linked to were slaves we kept years ago. I recall my older sister and I sleeping upstairs in sleeping bags to hearing the gun cabinet doors creaking open I was sacred so bad I tucked my head in my sleeping bag until I fell asleep. My Mom tells stories of when she was a kid followed something down the stairs and watched open the door and walk out. My mom is not a believer type of that kind of ghosts and spirits but she has no explanation for what it was. I think there is definitely something to it. I have photos with unexplained images in them too. It really makes you think about things though. Interesting topic!

I feel the presence of my uncle Eddie in my mom's house. I have never seen a ghost just get the feeling that he is there. He passed away when he was 17 years old when a drunk driver hit his truck when he was coming off the mountain. He was a really great kid and even though I was only 8-9 when he passed I remember him being a really fun uncle who used to take me for rides on his bike handlebar.

Other people in the family have felt his presence too. I like to think of it more as an angel watching over us than a ghost.

We live in an old farm house that was moved into town. Since day one there have been odd things that have happened, the stereo turning on in the middle of the night REALLY low and hearing giggling and creaking floors (I think they were dancing). This stopped when we moved the stereo into our room from the dining room. The stove would be turned on (the burners) during the night (until we got an electric start stove) and to this day I can be sitting on the main level and things will fall or the floors from the upstairs will sound like someone is walking over them when there is no one up there.

A couple of my daughter's have actually seen and/or felt ghosts in their rooms. Down to the fact that they could describe what they were wearing and how old they were (one an older man with a 1860's style military uniform on, which fits for our area, and the other a little girl or young teen who actually moved hair from the daughter's forehead as she was sleeping, daughter woke up to her standing there).

I never really used to believe, but with all that has happened in this house and TWO of the girls seeing "things" you become a believer.
