    Default American Express Prepaid gift card

    Does anyone know if you do a return when you have paid with this, should the amount show up instantly when you call to check your balance? I did a return, the amount is still showing $0 balance, it hasn't credited the card back yet and being Sunday, you can't get a person on the phone. Store says they did what they needed to credit the card back - basically nto their problem they say.... Are these even able to be credited back?

    I am worried I lost my money that I used to pay with the gift card.

    I know that credit cards take 3-5 business days to be credited back so this may be the same.

    If it is a non re-loadable I would say you might need to go back to the store, I had to do a return last year and I told the cashier it was a non re-loadable GC and she did the return as if I paid with my bank debit same as cash type of return. It can be really frustrating sometimes I would say worse case just wait it out and hope to speak to a live person tomorrow on the phone, I know that does you no good right now especially if you really need to use that money. I personally don't trust that a non re-loadable card would excect a refund.. Just like I never expected a loaded card could be overdrawn but it can.. Lessons learned there! ( It was a p&g master card logo one king of like a credit card one that this happened to.)

    Since I have left the store and they now have the merchandise - I have no recourse if it isn't back on the card.... dealing with the cashier and manager was useless - basically they said they selected "ok" to put it back on the card so it's there - whether its actually there or not - they made it very clear that they could care less.

    Even if it took 3 - 5 days to post... I would think it would show pending, right? It showed the deducted amount 2 minutes after having used the card yesterday.

    No...it usually won't show pending.. it'll just show back up in 3-5 days.

    Were you able to get to the bottom of this today? Sometimes a customer service person can see more on their end, I hope it will all work out for you. I can't stand store employees who act like it is too much to do their job. Acting like they couldn't care less if you got your refund is down right rude of them.

    Cheys right. I deal with these gift cards all the time and I have learned to hate them for this very reason. When a customer does a return, we can see it on our ends, but the card company will not see it on theres until it magically appears about 5-7 days later. So until then, you are wanting your money and there is nothing we at the store can do for you.

    Just make sure if you get any of these for the holidays to check and make sure if they are indeed reloadable. If they are not reloadable we at the store can still credit back to them, but you will never see that money but the card company will. I sooo dislike all of these different gift cards.

    I used an amex eGC to pay for savemore GC. Its been 2 weeks from the time I redeemed it and have not received the actual GC. I can't get hold of a "live" person when I called and have not received a reply to my emails regarding status of the GC. As much as I want to dispute the charges, I'd rather get the GC soon.

    I am not sure now if funds will be credited back to my amex GC since its a prepaid card I won online :(

    When I called yesterday, they could only tell me that my balance was $0 which I already knew from checking the automated system..... However, when I checked online today - the money had showed up (day 3) since transaction was done.... so that is a relief...
