Yep. Different problems here but pretty much the same thing.
To start off I want to say I am not begging for anything here other than a ear..we went on our first vacation in years like 7 of them..When I was getting everything ready and paying for things I remember thinking now watch when I spend this money things will start popping up.
So when we get back home a strom had came and tore up two big trees in our yard. When we go in the house it was like walking into a oven the air had went out while we were gone. So since the last of june I/we have had to pay out about $2000 on the air, then the washier tore up, had it fixed then about 4 weeks later it tore up again that was about $600 for both times we had it worked on. Then about two weeks ago the TV missed up,we were still able to watch it but it was causing headachs, was told it would cost at least $300 or more to fix, so we just got a new one.
My van is making a bad squealing noise so I need to have that looked into..but I have to get a new frig like now, tommorrow. We have to have a frig I cant see going without one even for a few days. I had to turn the freezer side off because of the smell it was putting off plus it was not freezing things our ice cream was about melted this afternoon...the smell was kind of like the small of bandaids to me and the smell is inside the frig part and its not that cool in that side but I am hoping it will hold up until I can get a new one here tommorrow, sure glad I have a maytag that will let me charge for awhile(which I hate doing but the money on hand wont pay for one at this time and its a have to have item)..
I know we all feel like what is next sometimes and this is how I feel right now..
All this and having to deal with being sick(breathing & acid reflux causing other heath problems) and a x that dont want to pay child support...I just need a break..when it rains it pours..

434Teresa,
I understand what your going through. It'll get better I know it doesn't feel like it will but it will.
Do you have only one refrig? That happen to me once (which was enough) I didn't have a 2nd refrig but I do now. Look for a good 2nd hand one (maybe in the spring time, or if you know someone that is getting rid of one) it's always useful.
All in all I hope you had a nice vacation :)

I would try craiglist for a cheap fridge. That might not be the best but would do the job for now. We got our fridge from a friend from work that didn't like color of it! Not the newest model out but it works. My hubby and me have had a very rough yr also. Our air broke so just put a new model in for 8 grand. then my brakes went bad and put another grand in those. Then my tires went bad and put another 800 in those. Then our basket then in washer broke. We had to put air condtion on credit. It is sad when you have a good saving and now it is all gone. I feel sometimes it would be better to rent and be someone elce problem. I understand how you feel about child support too! I get mine every 2 wks and it makes a world of difference.
If you have a Lowe's nearby, see if they have something on their scratch/dents/returns area. They'll sell things to you for a lot less than their marked down price. We bought a $750 Bosch dishwasher that was marked $650 for $300. All stores might not be that generous, but they like to get those scratch/dents out of there. The returns are fixed for whatever issue. Only thing is they will deliver these to your drive, but not bring them in or install.
I agree with the posters who said to try Lowes and Craigslist before you pay full price for a new fridge. I know people who've gotten almost brand new stuff from CL. It's worth a try! Just remember to take someone with you when you go.
As for your run of bad luck...I know exactly how you feel! A year ago, we were starting to think about packing boxes, and even spent a day off, driving around, looking at houses for rent. We were facing foreclosure, and the clock was running out. On top of that, we had car troubles and other expenses, and it seemed like it was never going to end. Luckily, we were able to keep our house (although it's still a struggle!). It always seems like lots of major things happen at the same time....and it's so hard to deal with it when it happens. Although that chapter of our lives has passed, I know that (like a lot of people), we're just a major appliance away from panic!!
Hang in there! And keep us updated.
I agree with what many others echoed....when it rains it pours.... we all have numerous different unexpected expenses come up that we didn't plan for. I just had to replace a retainer which I think I could have paid for a new arm for the price of the thing... totally was not an expense I was expecting.... same thing with the AC - another unexpected expense. I also received a huge bill in the mail that I was expecting insurance to pay a much larger part of then they did - so it was completely unexpected.... when it rains it pours.... the key is (and this is hard for everyone including myself), find a way to sit in the rain and laugh - sometimes it's either laughing or crying... and crying just causes bags under your eyes.

I was able to get the man from maytag to come and work on it today. It cost $169 and some change to fix. I really did not think they would come out that fast but he said he had kids and that a frig is a have to have item for him also.
I wish I had the room for a second frig. Keeping any cold drinks in there is a task for we just dont have the room for them. Teens are not good about talking out a cold drink and putting another in its place for the next person that needs a drink.
Now other than my having to take my van in because of the noise its making I hope this is it for awhile..

I'm sorry you're going through this, but just imagine if all of these things had happened before your vacation, you might have cancelled it. I'm sure those memories will get you through the hard times. And things do have a way of working out over time and getting better. Hang in there!
