I didn't really have seasonal clothes till I moved to DC. Now it is just too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter to wear the same clothes for both. I definitely don't replace all my clothes every season or year though.

Overall, I don't buy that much and I try to get it all on sale or clearance. I mostly update like lasab does. I might buy a couple new long sleeved shirts, a sweater, and a pair of jeans every winter and toss the equivalent of my existing wardrobe that has gotten too old or outdated. Same with summer and a couple short sleeved shirts, and a pair of shorts. I am not working now, but I do have a decent office type work wardrobe that I wore for a year and will be fine for another year or two without much updating once I do start working again. I buy a new winter coat only every 2-3 years. And of course I replace pjs, undies, and socks as they wear out. The only thing I regularly replace every year are shoes. I buy a new pair each of athletic shoes, casual shoes (like chucks), flats, sandals, and boots every year.

So...my kids do get new clothes every season. I buy them a new coat and gloves/hats every winter. They get new jeans, pants, sweatshirts, shirts every fall and winter. Every summer they get new swimsuits, shorts and t-shirts and every spring they get new shirts and shorts as well.
I guess I am lucky. My daughter doesn't actually like getting new things for the most part. Yes, once in a while she will see something she likes. But she hates getting rid of her old clothes. So the only time she will do that is when things are truly too small for her. She usually gets at least 2 years from a coat because I buy them large. Or I did. I don't know because she is not likely to grow much more. She has been wearing adult sized gloves and hats for several years now so we're good there. I did ask her if she wanted a new coat this year. She didn't.

    No on this -
But the entire wardrobe? That just seems weird to me.
    Thanks!

My kids are 12 and 9 so they are still growing every year and the clothes from last year don't fit. When they are teens and aren't growing as fast I will not replace their whole wardrobe every year but just update as needed.

Got news for y'all! I have clothes older than most of the posters in this thread. I hate clothes shopping. I have been as high as 280 pounds and as small (2 years ago) as 109. I only buy clothes when I absolutely have to. Usually go to the thrift store. They have great clothes for practically nothing. I am going to have to break down and buy some new shoes. Somehow my feet have grown and my basic black flats and some nice heels are just too small for me now. Of course, I have shoes that are at least 10 years old, too. My wool winter coat is over 20 years old. Still looks great. Don't need a coat too often in this neck of the woods. I don't have to have "office clothes" so jeans or shorts, tees or sweaters fit the bill.

A lot of my clothes are really old too. I just feel comfortable wearing them and live a pretty simple not very fancy life so it o.k with me what I have. I do buy my kids new things as they need them. I think the most recent things I have bought myself have came from the thrift store. Oh and I did find a few larger tops that I kind of needed for
(maternity) at the Dollar General a month or so for $1.00 I was thrilled! Really as long as my kids have what they need I am content and happy as a mom.

Your body acclimates to the climate you live in. When we first moved to Fl years ago, I actually froze up the condenser on my AC because I set the temp so low! Then, once we moved back up north, it took me almost a full year to re-acclimatize to the weather.

My in-laws (who are Canadian) would laugh at me when they would see me bundled up in fleece throws at their house lol. Even my Canuk DH froze for the first year back in the north, and he was stationed at the north pole when he was in the Cn Army LOL....

In short, that's how we do it , so don't feel bad. It's just like when you see tourists driving convertibles and wearing shorts and tanks in February, and they think you're nuts for wearing jeans and a hoodie lol

I got teased the other day for wearing a shirt that had something on it about a '91 girls basketball team. I don't buy clothes often at all, seasonally or not, and I usually shop thrift stores when I do. I only shop on Mondays because they have half-off happy hours (so most shirts are one or two bucks), and only when I am specifically in need of something, like I might decide I need a certain number of button-up sleeveless shirts for work and go get that specifically. I rarely just browse for clothing and I only buy what I need when I need it regardless of season.

Yet at the same time, my closet is in desperate need of purging. That's mostly my husband's fault, though, or we have goblins in the house because every time I start sneaking some of his raggedy tshirts out and into the trash, they mysteriously end up back in the closet. The insult to injury is that he sometimes tells me I need to go through my things and get rid of some of it!

I buy a few new things each season, but never a lot. Before anything new comes in the house I try to purge the same amount of 'old things' to donate... because I honestly have too many clothes. Lol.
