one postal service plan would stop Saturday delivery & front door mail slots!

There is a plan to restructure the postal service.
A member of Congress, Daniel Issa, wants to end Saturday delivery and phase out delivery to front door mail slots. I live in the city.
What would they do?
Force me to pay them for a post office box?

I have a mail box by my door, not a mail slot.

Maybe there is a diffrence to Mr. Issa.

Probably make you either have a mail box at your curb...or have mail boxes all together in groups per street...so everyone goes to one spot on the street with a key each individual boxed and get there mail that way.

It costs more for the mail man to have to walk to your door. It's cheaper the other ways.

The PO is about to go belly up if they can't cut costs.

I am ok with the no mail on saturday thing. they should have done away with that a long time ago..

I definitely agree i wouldn't mind no mail on saturdays. I also agree with closing some of the post offices. I have 5 within minutes of my house. I think that a community mail box is the best way to go.

If they stop mail delivery on your street all together your post office box would actually be free. But more than likely it will be curbside or in a cluster box.

I want my mail on SATURDAY and I like gettting my mail at my door everybody can not walk to the curb to get there mail or go pick it up.I dislike going to the post office out of my way, A few years ago they what to stop bring mail to the door.

I have only ever had one house that had a mailbox on the house. That was in Cape Cod. Here we have to have a locking mailbox and we have to go a ways to get to it.

it's going to be interesting how this all turns out...most of the postal workers look very tired and I feel they need a 2-day break.

I now live in a "no delivery" area, which means the post office makes me get a post office box. They only charge me a $2 key rental which gets returned if I move and return the keys so it doesn't cost me anything. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up happening in towns all across the country.

I am okay with everything, except the community box. Lots of folks can barely get to the end of their driveway. But whaddaya do? The gubment blew it, like with everything else. And now we get to pay.

These goofballs actually sent out sacks for the food drive in May. Do you know how much that must've cost? Now, guess how many people on my block put out a sack? Just ugh! I'm so sick of government waste! Hand it over to UPS, if you really wanna save it.
