Help. Anyone have ideas to make some extra money?

I'm not looking for pity at all. Just looking for some support and ideas.

My story..
My husband got laid off last week. It was totally unexpected because he just got a raise 2 months ago. He was ta a Directors level. And a few years ago when he was laid off from another company it took 8 months to find a new job. Whenever he applies for something they tell him he is overqualified for the position. I don't really have work either. I work for a school district but I am only a preschool sub. And the program has got cut back so much that there are only 4 classrooms. The district laid off a lot of workers this summer and have no open positions to try and apply for. We know that when he finally finds a new job we are going to have to move. We haven't paid the mortgage since April. So we are still waiting for the mortgage company to start the foreclosure process.

Anyways (enough of the story). I am looking for some ways to make a little cash. We have 2 extra working fridges in the garage. I made an appointment to have the electric company to come pick them up. They pay you $30 each for every working appliance they can pick up from your home. We are also going to be having a yard sale every weekend until there is pretty much nothing left. Of course there is making the most out of my stockpile and doing trade for fresh food coupons.

My daughter has her 12th birthday next month on the 27th. So I was thinking a potluck and have it halloween themed. Mostly because we have halloween decorations already.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make some extra cash?

Is babysitting an option?
If your schedule is flexible you could do some during the day for a mom's morning off kind of thing for households in your community and/or church. Also, many of those parents that have date nights need someone to watch the kiddos in the evening.
I probably isn't a regular source of income, but I know the teenagers around here that babysit make pretty good money.

My friend has been doing side jobs at kmart and target and other places. They are just one time job gigs they need xtra help with. Have you thought about warehouses or babysitting would be great. That is sad about your hubby job. I know if my hubby ever lost his job we would loss everything and move.
I don't even think I would care about lossing my house. I would prob just move in a sm apartment and move on with life.

School ended the begining of May. Thats when I went from working full time to a sub postition for the next school year. AKA my classroom was eliminated . So when that happened we decided that we would just not pay and move into an apartment. Our mortgage was $1600 and without me working and even with his small raise we could not aford to pay it.

Babysitting is a good idea. Especially with all my education background. I should start posting on Craigslist for that. Thanks for the idea!

Do you have any old, broken gold chains or such around in your junk drawers? You could sell that for a really good price at a local jeweler... I wish you the best, I've been there Dh was out of work for over a year

People are starting to plan for the holidaze, and if you're crafty at all, you might pick up some money selling stuff whether holiday themed decorations and accessories or gifts. Knitting? Crochet? Sewing? Woodwork? Design? Jewelry making? What kind of hobby skills do you have?
