Dh applied for UI the day they told him he was laid off. So we just got the letter today with his wopping $240 a week. I dont really want to go out and get a day job. I want to stay avaliable for the district I work for. If anything opens up benifits are really good. About 120$ a month for family insurance. Plus there is a state pention plan that is decient. So just waiting for something to open up there. The principal at my DD school knows that I am looking, so that is good. She loves me and is going to let me know if anyone quits or gets fired.
Since DH got his UI letter I can go ahead and apply for free lunch and state insurace for the kids. And if you dont qualify here they have another state insurace that is not free but only $15 a month per child.
The past 2 days I have been looking on craigslist to find babysitting and pet sitting type jobs. Not too much out there but a lot of people willing to sit.
DH has been getting in contact with past bosses and co-workers. Networking seems to be the best way of finding a job. He has gotten a few leads but they are all out of state.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but personally I would not use Craigslist. If I was looking for a sitter I would look to a reputable site that specializes in providing care givers like gonannies, care.com or others of that nature. The user (person hiring) can request background checks through them, etc. I would be completely afraid of finding someone on Craiglist--too much bad stuff going on with that site lately. Like I said, many of these other sites are free to register for--you have nothing to lose. The other thing is to get the word out through friends that you are available to babysit.
