Default People with sensitive & dry skin -what do you use?

I have very sensitive and very dry skin - to the point that my face can't seem to handle the face washes like Biore and such - my eye lids burn and the skin is flaking off! My face is so dry that every expression I make, my face is so so tight. It's uncomfortable. I am willing to spend some money and get some really good products (not Neutragena, Garnier, etc..) most everything they sell at the grocery store has alot of perfumes and such in it. Does anyone have the same type of skin as me and have they found a regimen that really works? Avon also has perfumes and stuff. I did used to use Origins along time ago and I think they pride themselves on being "all natural" not sure if that is still the case or not. Any recommendations or brands or products within a brand line that work for this type of severely sensitive/dry skin??

You may not need to wash your face so often! Unless you are really getting it sweaty and dirty I would try just rinsing with water and gently patting dry. Has this come up recently or have you always been this way? If it's recent I'd be suggesting a trip to the physician to see why this is going on. If it were me I'd also go to a dermatologist and maybe get prescription products. What you are experiencing does not seem normal to me.

Google oil cleansing method. I have no personal experience with it, but I do know some people who do it and swear by it.

I have to wash my face every day to get the makeup off - I don't want to sleep in any makeup and I wear makeup most days.

I would also suggest seeing your Dr and/or dermatologist (or even allergist). I used to have eczema severly as a kid and my skin would go through phases where it was similar to what your mentioning. I was given the prescription cream Elidel. It's a very thick, non greasy cream that doesn't cause the sensitive areas to react badly once applied (no extra burning or redness with use). After several days of use, the flaking would go away and the redness would basically disappear. I've tried dozens of over the counter creams and prescrition creams. This one worked the best for my sensitive/ extremely dry skin. Once or twice a year, I will still get a small patch of it on my face and I use the cream and it is gone within 1-3 days every time.

Good luck and hugs... I know it can be miserable.

I would suggest cetaphil facial wash. When our oldest was dx with excema our ped suggested we stop using all baby wash with her and start using cetaphil facial wash on her. They also have lotion that we used instead of baby lotion as well. The excema stopped. Lots of online friends have done the same thing with their kids.

I went to the dermatologist for the first time in my life this past June with this problem. She recommended cetaphil or ceraval products to moisturize and cleanse. She suggested Dove sensitive bar soap for bathing and warm, not hot water for bathing/showering. I had one flare up but my skin is doing much better.
IVDSO: $1/1 or $1/2 coke peelies (good on 12 packs), WT's good in NC or SC for groceries, meat, cheese, bread, etc. and NBPR rebates valid in NC. H) Lots of insert coupons. I get multiples every week so let me know what you need!

I also recommend Cetaphil. My son has severely sensitive skin and that is one that works for him. He also uses Dove for sensitive skin bar soap. His derm said not to use to many liquid washes. I have used the Dove soap to wash off my make-up and it does leave my skin very soft. I have sensitive skin as well, but not like my son. His derm also said not to use bath poufs and things like that, things that you reuse, since bacteria can live on them. He said to use white washcloths and don't use fabric softener on them when they are washed. That tip alone I think has helped him. I can't use fabric softener on his clothes, but I did on towels and washclothes. Now, I do his towels and stuff seperate without softener.

If you contact Cetaphil and explain that you are trying to find a product that will work for you, they will send you some samples and coupons. I did this with Aquafor as well. I got several little sample bottles from them and some really good coupons.
