Checking to see how all our runners are doing!! Are any of you successfully upping your mileage? If so, what are you up to?
I am basically running 8 miles or close to that every time I go out now which is 4 times a week. I have had knee pain in the past so I don't want to increase it to any more just yet. I can feel it a little bit after running 8 but not enough to have to use ice or Advil. While training for the half in May I was icing and using meds after my long run each week. Nothing I want to do long term but I was determined to run the half. The doctor said the knee problem is common in women because of our shape (not straight up and down like a man, we have curves.). They call it runner's knee if you want to look it up. Easier than me explaining it.

Well, I'm doing pretty good. I upped my miles last week. I normally run 3-4 miles per week and last week I ran 7. But then a couple days ago I fell and hurt my tailbone badly, so this week I haven't ran much to try and let it heal up before my 5 miler on Sun. I thought I had broken it at first which was really disappointing since I have been really trying hard to train well for this upcoming run. Luckily it doesn't hurt as bad today and last night I tested it out with a 1 mile run that seemed to be ok. So I'm gonna go for it on Sun. I have had a bit of nerve tingling in my legs and arms, but I think that is just from the nerves being bruised as well. It's not pain...just tingling every once in a while, so I'm not too concerned with that either.

So, I guess wish me luck. Like I said before, I know I'm not gonna be able to run the whole 5 miles...but I'm gonna run as much of it as I can.

I would love to be up to 8 miles at a time like you christina, but that is a while in the future. I have also been experiencing some left ankle pain in my Achilles tendon area and need to figure out what that is all about before I could ever get up to that amount of mileage. My DH has runner's knee too. He just runs through it. I tell him he should get it checked out, but he doesn't seem concerned enough. It may just be overuse though cause he is a big runner like you...usually I think he runs about 20-25 miles a week.

What a bummer about your injury. Just take it easy and if anything starts hurting just stop and walk the rest. You will thank yourself later. I ran through an injury (knees) during a race before and my body felt like It had been hit my a truck the next day. Stairs were real tough. I had to take a week off after that and then ease back up the mileage. If I had it to do again I would of eased up during the race and listened to my body. Whatever happens you will do your best. Good luck!!

My tailbone ended up not really affecting me much at all. I really only feel it when I sit on it so that is good.

I did better than I thought I would too. I ran 4.5 of the 5 miles. Had to take a walk break up a steep hill at about the 3.5 mile mark, but still very proud of myself for my first race. Finished in under an hour...not sure the exact time since I forgot to start my watch and they don't have the results posted yet, but I'm thinking about an 11 minute mile pace.

Congrats!! Glad your tailbone did not slow you down. My next race is on Thanksgiving morning. What a hectic day. Race at 9am then stores (CVS) for Thanksgiving day deals then home to get the food started for our guests. I just pray for good weather on that day every year. Around here it could be 60degrees or 10. Sun, rain or snow/ice. Just never know till it gets here.

Wow! That is an ambitious undertaking. A race and couponing...on Thanksgiving morning. Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner too? Cause if you are doing that too, then I bow down to you as wonder woman Lol!
    Is it a turkey trot?

It is one crazy day but it is our favorite holiday and DH and I look forward to it! We do just about everything but the turkey. My parents cook the turkey and cranberries and my dad usually makes a pecan pie. I just don't know how people have enough room in their ovens to do everything at once. Maybe most people do just a turkey OR ham but since DH does not like turkey we do both. We will cook the ham, mashed pot., sweet pot., green beans, stuffing, mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, rolls, and pumpkin pie. And DH brother usually brings a corn dish. We have about 30 family members over. By the end of the day I am shot and I always work early the next day.

Yes it is a turkey trot. They have it every year in downtown Cincinnati. It is always a big crowd. There will be hard core runners and there will be walkers and all the in between. The best is the end will all the free snacks. The best imo was the mayfield ice cream sandwiches last year, I had 3 in about 5 minutes! My husband and I grab an empty box and fill up on all the goodies to bring home to the kids.

Anyone else running in a Turkey Trot next week? The elliptical has been my best friend lately with the rainy weather and wind we have been getting. I really really wanted to run outside today but the rain just won't go away. So how is everyone else, that is running next week, doing on their training?

I thought about doing a turnkey trot, but didn't want to push myself too much.

I did do my Veteran's day run this past Sun though. Did pretty good too. It was a 10k and I ran the whole thing this time (well except for having to walk a few paces to drink water a couple times, I just cant seem to jog and drink, it splashes up into my face every time lol).

I am excited about doing another one though. I think there is a 10 miler in April I might do.

Right now I am up to about 8-10 miles a week total. Between 2.5 - 4 miles, 3 times a week. Gonna start upping my miles again in a couple weeks.
