Default Spin off of haircutting thread...

What do you pay for haircuts and other beauty services in your area? I always find it amazing how different the prices vary! If you are posting about a haircut, please detail if cut includes shampoo and blowdry.

    Western Kansas

    Men's Hair cut-$13
    Children's Haircut-$10
Cut, Color, and eyebrow wax-$60 (includes blowdry and shampoo)
Proud mom to an adorable two year old little boy!

Please excuse my spelling-my LO is on the loose and just learned how to climb-so I am typing as fast as I can!

I pay nothing for them - I just cut my own hair. But for a decent hair cut - it's gonna cost around $45 around here. Even the cheap places like pro-cuts, quick cuts, they want a good $25 despite the fact they advertise $10 hair cuts - that doesn't include a wash or blow dry.

In my little town in southwest GA, I think chain places like Great Clips run around maybe between 10 and 13 dollars, though I've seen coupons in the mail for something like 7 and 8 dollars (I think). In our nicer locally owned place, it's still just under 20. That's for a trim and a quick dry. I wash my hair at home and it's usually still a little damp when I go. For mine, it's usually just a matter of neatening the ends, though when I've had more cut off and a bit more styling done, it doesn't usually cost more. I prefer our locally owned place because I'd rather support a local business owner and just plain because I get better service and consistently better trims. When I was going to Great Clips, it was hit and miss-- sometimes good and a couple of times it looked like the stylist must have been blindfolded and whittling on my hair with a potato peeler. It's just ends trimming!

kschick - I wondered the same thing when I saw Doglover mention the price for cuts in the other thread.

Doglover - WHERE is this in Texas that the cuts are so expensive??

It would probably help if people say what the prices include, like if it includes a shampoo or blowout or whatever.

I think my haircut is $30. That includes shampoo and blow dry. My daughter also gets highlights and I think it is $70 for all that. So very good prices for this area. There are places that are cheaper but I don't trust them at all. I know some people who get their hair cut at some of those places and they look like they got cheap hair cuts.

Great Clips is okay and is usually $10-13 depending on who you are. The last time I went, it was $13 for a cut that left one side of hair shorter than the other by about an inch. A manager ended up having to fix it and I haven't been back. Since all I usually get is a trim, I've learned to trim the ends off my own hair for free.

It can and will go up to $45-50 if you're going to a basic salon for the standard shampoo, cut, and some places charge $5 for blow dry. Here in Austin, you can also see some places charging $100+/-, but those are more salons about the experience rather than just the haircut itself (like if you need a mimosa and a massage while you get your ears lowered).

For hair color, you can pay $3-7 for at-home color, or you can pay around $35-75 depending on if you're getting highlights, more than one process, etc. Before I switched to home hair color (that lasts about 3/4th of the time the salon hair color did), I did a single-process all over color for long hair for about $55 a session.

I've seen eyebrow threading offered in the mall for $20, but if you learn to thread at home, all you need is a piece of string.

Smee, that's funny! I wanted to get mine done, but chickened out. I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it myself. I'd probably end up looking weird (like some of those little old ladies that just draw them on with pencil!). Especially if I took a couple of shots! Or, I'd get one done and then pass out. I don't drink much!

Hair cuts at a place like Fantastic Sam's run around $10-$13. I don't know how much their color is and I would be a little afraid to try it there.

In a hair salon, cut, style and hilights will cost $100 plus.
    How many days until summer?
