I cut my own hair.... have been for a few years now... I might go in for a professional haircut in another year or so - so that I have a cut to follow but other then that, I just don't want to spend $45 dollars for a haircut and usually don't like what the stylist does anyways.

I have been cutting DH and DS hair for years. I use a Flowbee (no kidding). DH hair is very curly so I just set it for very short and cut the same length over his entire head. It always looks nice. DS hair is straight and it takes me 3 times as long to cut as DH because I cut longer on the top tapering down to shorter in the back. Several times I have taken DS to a salon to get a "professional" cut and was never pleased with the results. So I am back to cutting myself again. It is kind of a "Justin Bieber" cut now but I can never say that in front of him.

My DH cuts our boys' hair.
All four of them (boys, that is)
Saves quite a bit of cash flow each month

Pays $15.00 amonth to get his own cut,
    but I can't complain.

    Well, too much

I am lousy at cutting hair. Tried to trim my bangs once but they didn't come out well at all. Never tried to cut anyone else's hair. The salon we go to isn't super expensive. I even get my daughter's hair highlighted there and it's not bad. I do my own color. That I can do.

My husband cuts his own hair but it shows. It is not attractive at all. He is in the military and wears it super short. But the thing is when he gets it done at the barber they do slightly different lengths on the top and sides and that comes out looking good. He just whips the clipper all over his head so it's all the same length. Sometimes he even has our daughter do it for him and she hates doing it because she doesn't think it looks good either.

I have a friend who has been cutting her own hair for years. It does look good but she has curly hair and I think that's a lot easier to cut than straight hair.

Everytime I go somewhere to get it cut always turns out horrible. the last haircut I spent 60 for and she thin my ends and it looked horrible! Then time before that went to jcpenny and the lady brused my hair so hard had to take advil after I left. I really haven't had someone give me a good haircut in atleast 2 yrs.
The school coloring was super cheap, but it was only a semi-permanent color which didn't last long. I also had them highlight my hair once, but they still do the pull through the cap method and I HATE that. Really hated it afterwards when you couldn't even tell they did anything! I'd go back to this particular beauty school for a cut or mani/pedi, but not color. This particular school isn't a high end school though, so maybe you'll have better luck if the school around you is a high end one? Good luck!
