    Default Birthmarks - have any?

When my youngest daughter was born I saw a white spot toward the end of her tongue and asked the pedi about it; she said "it's a birthmark." It's now a bit smaller than a dime but when she was born (17 years ago) it was about the size of a pencil eraser.

    Do you have any birthmarks?

Well, I have a few...so does DH. And to make it worse as I have gotten older, I have more beauty marks, freckles, and moles than I can count. My biggest birth mark covers the front of my shin. It is VERY light and you can really only see it when I have a tan...and even then you really gotta look for the lines where the color changes slightly from the surrounding skin.

I also have one kind of like your DD's. It is a patch of scattered spots on my upper arm that are all whiter than the surrounding skin. Totally they cover an area the size of a half dollar. But again, they are not that noticeable cause I myself am very pale to begin with.

DH's biggest birthmark is a true "birth" mark...meaning one he actually got during birth. The umbilical cord got wrapped around his neck and gave him these red scar type birthmarks under his chin. The skin doesn't have a different or scar type texture or anything...just red splotches that get redder if he is angry or has been exercising. Often new people he meets when they are at their reddest are all concerned or think I have been giving him hickies

I don't have any. I dont think DH has any. DS doesn't either. DD has one on her lower back.

MIL keeps telling her that she may have to have it removed if it gets any bigger when she is older. I have never heard of that It has not increased in size that I have noticed. I guess I will just ask her Dr. at her next well visit.

How old is DD...maybe it's a port wine stain? They usually grow a lot, but I think usually disappear by the time they go to school. But on the occasion they don't go away...I think they do often remove them. That is the only case I can think of where birthmarks are removed
Usually it's moles, not birthmarks, that are removed if they get bigger...at least I think.

I have a Café au lait birth mark about the size of my pinky finger on the back of my leg.

My now 19 year old daughter had a strawberry birthmark on the top of her head at birth, the doc said it would go away on it's own...it did.

My 14 year old daughter has one similar to mine on the back of her leg.

My 8 year old son has a dark brown spot on his back, every single time we go to the doc he looks at it like he has never seen it before. I think because from far away it is the same size as a cigar burn...don't know why the doc cannot remember he has always had it.

My 6 year old twins...I have not noticed any birthmarks on them, although Carly who is dark skinned like her dad has a few lighter pigmentation spots...not sure if those are really birthmarks or not though.

I have a HUGE port wine stain on my abdomen. I wish it would have faded, but it has only gotten darker. My son has a strawberry birthmark on the back of his neck. It faded, but is still visible when he gets a haircut.

I have 4. One is the size of a dime and a perfect circle shape, about 4 inches to the right of my bellybutton, on my stomach. When I was little I used to think it was my second bellybutton that closed up. lol. I have a tattoo of 2 palm trees on the same side, on my hip bone...I have been told the birthmark sort of resembles the moon over the trees.

I have 2 small ones, lightly colored on each of my legs and a small one at the crease of my underarm. All are about the size of my pinky fingernail.

I also have oddly placed freckles too. On the bottom of my foot, one in between my toes, one that shows up every summer on my bottom lip.

Neither of my DD's have birthmarks. My older DD had a slight strawberry one in her underarm but it's already faded away. She does have 2 freckles on her arm though. Funny thing is I have the same two freckles in the same exact spots and so does my mom and so does her mom. Four generations of identical freckles. lol.

I have 1 tiny light brown spot on my right arm by my elbow, DD has 1 one on the right side(I think lol) of her face by her eyebrow, it's not big or to small and it's light brown....funny thing is that my dad has the same birthmark.
It's weird because DD has the same birthmark as my dad, she also has a smaller birthmark on her stomach and my DH has the same birthmark, she has a mole on the back of her head and my baby brother has the same mole on the same spot...I have a mole on my right palm and DD has the same mole but a little bigger in the same spot...weird huh.
