I have a brown one on the side of my neck. It looks like a hickey. My mom said I got it was when she was pregnant with me in the winter of 68 she craved fresh strawberrys and could not get them. She said it looked like a strawberry when I was born. I got teased about it alot. Now days if I am asked about the hickey on my neck, I tell them it is God's hickey. People usually shut up after that.

I have 2. One is a tan fingertip shaped mark on my temple. It can't usually be seen because of my hair, I have to actually remove my glasses & push my hair out of the way now for anyone to see it. When I was younger though it could be seen across the room. LOL

My other, I call my leprechaun footprint. It is shaped just like a little boot print & is about the size you would expect from someone about 6 inches tall. I call it a leprechaun because we have Irish ancestry. It has faded a lot now, I can barely find it some days. If I go out in the sun though, it'll probably darken again. Its done that before.

I have a birthmark that looks sort of like the state of Texas in between my girls. It doesn't tan and is sort of raised. The last few swimming suits I have had covered most of it...less than an inch shows and it is about 3 to 4 inches big.

My dd has a beauty mark type thing on the back of her leg...bigger than most moles or freckles, a little smaller than a dime. Both of my sons have a dark brown spot on the back of their neck, in almost the same spot. You can only see it the first couple of days after they get a hair cut. My husband has a brown birthmark on his shoulder, kind of looks like a question mark.

A couple. One is very faint and hard to even notice on my knee. The other is a small two part mark on my left upper arm. It's not very big or dark, but it's more noticeable than the one on my knee. Mine seem to get lighter with age, but my overall skin tone is lightening as well. I'm an impressive shade of pasty.

Every one of my siblings, my children, and myself had a small blue mongoloid spot at the base of our spines when we were born. Looks like someone cracked you good and hard and left a bruise on the top of your butt. It's due to our Cherokee ancestry...they disappear with age.

I got weird looks in the hospital with DS#1 over it, so I was sure to mention it to the nurses with DS#2. As if someone would whack their newborn in the hospital and leave a bruise...geez.

I have a perfect circle on my ankle, the size of a dime. It's never bothered me. =)
DH and DS#1 don't have any.
DS#2 has a hemangioma - a red circle on his head, also the size of a dime. It has lightened since birth, but is still there. It's visible now that he has a buzz, LOL. It may go away on its own.
D3#3 has a brown splotch on his pinky - so cute!
DD has a big splotch of lighter pigmentation on her back. It's not very visible at all, anymore.

My niece had that type of blue birthmark on her back and abdomen for the first few years. Definitely caused some odd looks at times when we would take her to the pool and stuff like that.

I have a brown smaller than a dime one on my inner thigh, it is the shape of a clothes iron. I don't believe DH has any, but he does have a chicken pox scare between his eyebrows.

In addition to a couple of the little brown spots I have a place just below the knee on the inside of my right calf that is weird. The pores there are darker than the rest of my skin - it looks like a patch of freckles until you look closely.

Also, on my youngest she had one of those reddish patches behind her head - stork bites - when she was born and it's still there but very faint.

I had never heard of Mongolian spots before, nor seen one. After looking them up I can definitely see how they might be mistaken for bruising.

The articles said they were mostly in the back area but here is a photo.

I have 2 birthmarks and both of my boys each have one, too.

I have one on my right inner thigh that is 3 separate little birthmarks, but they are grouped together --- kind of like a clover shape. They are tan in color. I am very fair so they stand out pretty well. Then, I have another small birthmark of the same color on my right shin.

Interestingly, DS1 has a similar birthmark on one of his shins, too, but it's bigger -- maybe the size of his fist.

And DS2 has a very light, but large birthmark on his right outside thigh. It is not very noticeable now, almost like a small area that is more tan than the rest of him.
