    Default Ugh! In between benefits?

I hope this is the right forum for this. Right now I am moving from Minnesota to Virginia for college (I'm on almost a full ride scholarship). But I have a problem. Here in Minnesota I have foodstamps and cash assistance because I am considered homeless. I can't apply for foodstamps and cash assistance there for, if I read correctly, sixty days. While I plan to babysit and do other type things to make small amounts of money, this gap in benefits will cause problems. What do you think I can do?

    Thanks.

(I also haven't recieved notice on whether or not I get SSI despite sending in forms weeks ago, so that isn't helpful either).

why would you be able to get SSI?

I would go and apply when I get there and moved in..The benfits you get in Minnesota maybe good for 60 days after you move maybe thats why you cant apply for 60 days if you are reading right..I dont really no. If you are on a full ride scholarship I dotn know why that would say you are the same as homeless for you should have a room in that almost full ride scholarship right?

I'm also disabled. I have autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, and ADHD which make it hard for me to work on two very structured things (full time job and school) at the same time.

I don't know about that, I am considered legally homeless in MN despite being quite open to those at the foodstamps etc type office that I live with a friend's family at the moment.

Since food stamps can be used in other states, you should be able to use whatever you have in Virginia. I'd say to stretch them as far as possible. Eat Ramen noodles and other cheap foods (sandwiches, oatmeal, rice, PB&J, crackers, eggs). Use coupons for free/cheap foods. Eat smaller portions of food. Not sure what other expenses you would have. Maybe do favors/small jobs for food or money.
It's 35 cents off of ground round,
    Baby, cut that coupon out!

I'm looking for small sitting jobs or dog watching jobs, so hopefully I can find one of those when I get there.

Many churches have food banks that are independent of other food banks. Perhaps you could use a service like this to get you through?

Do you have a few items you could sell on eBay just to get a little money?

Maybe. I have some money, maybe, like... four hundred dollars and I have some shelfstable food, but I would like to work on getting benefits set up when I can.

your food stamps will follow you...so save them up as much as possible...to tide you over until you get your new ones.

Yeah, what part of VA are you moving to? I know here in the NOVA area, there are a few companies looking for dogwalkers and things like that.
