It depends on the job. I might take a pay cut for something I like better, and I might turn down a lot of money for a job I think I'd hate (assuming I were in the position to do so).
What kind or % of a pay increase would it take for you to consider switching jobs?

Here are the unknown factors:
Whether or not I am going to like it better - is totally unknown - total gamble....but also, you must know the current job is just as much of an unknown as for as liking and being happy so those cancel each other out, in a way.
This is a toss up for DH.
We'd have to have equal or better insurance benefits. He would probably take no pay increase for something closer...he commutes an hour each way.
That aside, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. I would want a pretty nice little pay raise to take on the unknowns of a new job. Leaving a stable job that you have no complaints about is a gamble in this economy, so the gamble would have to have a reward worth risking for.

Oh I wouldnt say the current job is pretty and no complaints.... it's just constantly changing so you don't know what will be good or bad the next month.
I waited forever for a job to come open in the group I'm in now. My pay increase allowed me to quit my part time job. Nothing insurance-wise changed.
Years ago, my husband took a $10k/yr pay cut to quit his job and work closer to home. It worked out better-as within 2 years, he made more than in his old job and he doesn't have to do shift work. His happiness was well worth the paycut.
It really depends. What are the hours? Is the commute better or worse? What is the expectation for on call type stuff? How unhappy are you at the first place? What is the potential for upward movement at both places? How much is health/dental/vision insurance, and are your doctors in the network? What kind of benefits do you get, i.e. vacation, tuition reimbursement, etc.? Is there a sign on bonus?
While pay is a huge factor, there are so many others that go in.
Well.... for me and DH, neither of us would change jobs for any amount of money. We both love what we do so much and the bills are paid, so we are good there - HOWEVER, when DH was with Lowe's.... He would have taken a paycut to get out of there.... I guess it depends on your happiness level with your employer, or profession.
For us it depends on several factors. Recently my DH was offered a promotion and it was a pretty big pay increase but we would have to move to Tennessee. The cost of living in the city we would be living in was much higher than here. The schools were not as good and we would be away from our family. Plus we really didn't want to have to uproot our kids. They are happy here. So we decided against it.
Now if he had a new job opportunity here and the pay was significant and we had great benefits I am sure he would go for it.

These are the kinds of things I would ask. I live west of Milwaukee and was offered a job in downtown Milwaukee that was several thousand dollars more per year. However, after factoring in the time commuting/busing in, parking fees, etc., I turned it down. I would have lost money and time each day.
