Re: What did you do today?
Birthday party today for my husband. His real birthday is tomorrow. Then wasted a lot of time looking for stuff to put in treat bags for tomorrow. My dad is in the hospital so I wanted to take something so he could celebrate.

Re: What did you do today?
Julie...sorry to hear about your dad. Hope it's not something serious and that he's home soon. HB to your hubby!
We had a bigger turnout at our cookout yesterday than we had expected...and we all had a great time!! I'm notorious for making tons of food when we have guests...so there was plenty to go around. And two people brought salads too...so we had a total of 8 salads to choose from!
This morning...I woke up and immediately started cleaning up!! We had rinsed off all of the dishes, but not washed them. We wanted to enjoy our company, instead of spending an hour in the kitchen, cleaning up dishes. I washed, dried and put away all of them, swept and mopped all of the hardwood floors (chip crumbs and bits of caramel corn were everywhere!!). After hubby got up, I took a quick shower and we ate breakfast.
Later today, we're dropping the 15 year old off at her friend's house for a little while. Then we'll head over to Home Depot and pick up more charcoal while it's on sale! Not sure what else we'll do...but it's nice to have the day off!! Tomorrow, my hubby starts his new job, so he just wants to relax today!

Re: What did you do today?
Julie, I second Xufan in hoping your dad's problem turns out to not something serious and that he's home soon. Happy Birthday to your hubby!
Today was a physical therapy day and I pretty much got nothing of any use done. We did go look at sofas and found a store we think we will end up making our purchase at as the quality of their products seems very good and their prices are quite reasonable. The thing is, they are one of those places we have what you see so make your selections. If we want to spend about three times the money, we can get a sofa of the same quality across the street in the fabric of our choice. I'd been wanting to go for a new color scheme for me. I saw a chair on clearance at the more expensive place in what I think is termed a French Blue - sort of a light blue that is a bit toward the green but not quite a teal - and I was looking to pair it with maybe a tan sofa with throw pillows in a paisley fabric I found at the fabric store that has the exact shade of blue as the chair, plus several greens, tans, and greys in it. The less expensive sofa my family liked best is bright red and comes with throw pillows with reds, greys, tans, and oranges. I've always had autumn colors in my living room and was really looking for a change, but I don't think I can justify spending 3 times as much for a sofa to get there. We're going back tomorrow to spend more time at the less expensive store, though, so maybe we'll find what I'm looking for yet. We ran out of time because we spent so much time at the more expensive store and didn't see everything at the less expensive place.
Edit to add: My mistake, the blue is not French Blue after all. This is the blue and I have no idea what you call it. According to DD#1, what I am looking for is a Mediterranean living room color scheme. Based on this image she linked me to, which is pretty much the sort of colors I want, I guess she is right.
