Working FT going PT advice after a baby 7mths old
I have been kicking this around for a bit from going FT to PT. I had my son al most 8 mths ago and I am a new mom. My BF helps me out with my son and his Daddy pays child support. My BF and I live together and we can afford for me to drop the hours. However it may make things a bit tight. Any advice from other moms out there. I have been working on coupons and things in that nature to stockpile but any other advice would be good I will be going from 8-430 to 7-2 ..........Did you go part time after your baby ....any advice on being home and less money wise. Daycare doesnt have part time hours at this time.

If I am reading your post right, it looks like you will only be working 1 1/2 hours less each day. I think it is great that you are working on your stock pile now. After I had my first baby I quit my full time job, and there was no time to prepare for that. (I was supposed to go back to work after my maternity leave was up.) We got rid of our cell phones (YES- people really can exist without them!), cut our cable down to only the free channels (ABC, CBS, FOX, etc. No more HBO, TLC, etc), and we cut out all the options on our phone land line (no caller id or call waiting). We never went out to eat, not even to a fast food place, never went to the movies, and we rarely ever rented a movie. I did not renew any magazine subscriptions, instead I asked for them as a Christmas gift from others. I did everything I could think of to save money. I used to pay to have our carpets cleaned. I stopped doing this and bought a carpet cleaner (which I LOVE), and that saved us a ton in the long run. Money was super tight, and I did have to end up running a day care out of my home for a couple of years. You can do it, but it won't be easy. Good luck!

Yes you are correct. It will be 7.5 hours less a week at work. I have worked full time since High School. It makes me nervous going part time I guess. I want to do it though I feel like I am overwhelmed and getting a few hours to take care of things and be a mom will help. I know about cutting costs and doing things to save. All of what you have described above I would do if I needed to do it for sure :). I am a mom first.... :) Thank you for your response. I just worry.. I guess all moms do huh.... I hope to be stocked on a few things that way incase of an emergency or whatever we are secure on feeding the family.
