Just goes to show-you never know until you ask!

Today I was checking out my bank statement online (always depressing!) and I was reminded that oh yeah I had to use an ATM not at my bank because last week my bank's ATM machine wasn't working (again). So the other bank charges $3-but I needed cash bad! Then my bank adds their $1 fee. So the $1 fee is what really annoyed me. So I wrote an email to my bank and asked if they ever waive the foreign atm fee due to their own machine not being in service. They just wrote me back that they would credit me the $4 as a courtesy. I wasn't even looking for that $3 back so I was extremely pleased.

I've had this happen before when my ATM wasn't working and never thought to ask. Glad I asked this time! Not that $4 is alot of money but hey we can do alot at the grocery store with $4! lol

Glad to hear they gave you credit!

My bank account allows x amount of other atm uses per month free. I want to say its a dozen or so. The charges will show up at first on my bank account and credit back within a few hours. When I signed up for the account I never thought I'd use it, but it has come in handy here and there when I do need it because I have a local, smaller bank so if I'm out of state I can't use one of their ATMs.

I wish I could say this and mean it! But $4 is a gallon of gas that will get me through a day of shopping!
