I hate moving!

Was born in Wichita, KS. Parents couldn't afford much rent, so we lived in one part of town.

Then they bought a house and we moved to another part of town. I don't remember. I was a baby.

Moved to WA with Boeing when I was 7. No housing available for a while so lived in motel. Only years later did we realize that motel was one that the hookers used. Eek!

Rented a house in Edmonds.

Moved next door and parents bought that house.

Got first apartment at age 19. Also in Edmonds.

Moved to a house somewhere around age 25. Can't remember for sure. Landlord decided to get married and move into that house so kicked my roommate and I out. I was looking for a place to rent when I got in a nasty car accident.

Had to move back in with parents.

About a year later, got an apartment in North Seattle. Lived there for a few years.

Moved in with boyfriend to an apartment in Edmonds. He then got transferred to CA (Coast Guard).

I got my own apartment in Edmonds.

Boyfriend called and said he was getting transferred to Rhode Island so if I wanted the military to move my stuff we would have to get married that weekend. Eek! I already had the dress but that was it. We were planning the wedding.

Turns out he was not transferred to Rhode Island but Cape Cod. Military housing was not available yet so...

Lived with inlaws in PA for a few months.

Got housing on Cape Cod. Was age 35.

Husband got transferred to CA when I was 38 but I had a high risk pregnancy and was not allowed to move. Had to wait until I got the clearance from Dr. after I had the baby.

Moved to CA at age 39.

Husband got transferred to NY when I was 44 or 45. Not entirely sure because we moved some time around my birthday.

Lived in NY for 2 years.

Then got transferred back to WA. Lived with parents for two weeks and then moved into Navy Lodge in Marysville until we found a house. Oh wasn't that fun!

Found house in Bothell when I was 46 and I hope to never move again!

I will definitely rival a few of you guys...especially for only being 29...I have moved way too much. And I totally blame me never having friends as a child on moving...you will see why below. We never stayed long enough anywhere in my childhood to make any. But one thing I do like that it has done has made me a very "go with the flow" person. I can make my way pretty much anywhere (DH and I actually dream of being nomadic later in life living on a houseboat)...and I even actually get a little stir crazy if we live somewhere for too long now. Lol.

#1, #2, & #3 - were moves when I was a baby/toddler (and probably shouldn't count). Don't know when they happened but I know my mom and dad (who were both teens when I was born) had to live with a few family members for the first few years to get by.
#4 - parents moved into their first place on their own when I was 3 or 4.
#5, #6, & #7 - parents moved just before Kindergarten, then before First grade, and then before 3rd grade started...I think all times cause we got evicted for not paying rent
#8 - mom left dad and moved in with grandma in middle of 4th grade
#9 - mom moved back in with dad again in 4th grade
#10 - parents moved to another city for a job for my dad just before 5th grade...we lived with family
#13 - family fallout and parents forced to move into motel
#14 - a month later saved enough to rent a trailer...was summer before 6th grade
#15 - parents moved back to hometown that summer as well
#16 - parents divorced and a couple of years later mom moved me and her in with step dad in another city...was in middle of 8th grade
#17 - mom and step dad moved to bigger house cause lil bro was born...was summer before 9th grade
#18 - mom & step dad split up and we moved into an apartment just a few blocks away to keep me at same school...was in summer before 10th grade
#19 - mom, me, and lil bro moved back to home town middle of 10th grade cause she couldn't afford rent in the more expensive city step dad moved us to
#20 - 6 months later we moved just a couple of blocks away into gov't. housing cause mom got pregnant with lil bro #2 and couldn't work as much
#21 - got married at 18 to my Sailor and moved to CA into one of the crappiest apartments ever!
#22 - moved 6 months later into military housing
#23 - at 20 moved off to Japan into a traditional Japanese house
#24 - 6 months later moved into military housing in Japan
#25 - moved back to our home state of TX in 2005 straight into the first home we bought
#26 - renovated it, sold it, and moved out into an apt. just over a year later
#27 - moved back to CA in 2008
#28 - moved here to DC in 2010
#29 - planning on maybe moving again at end of this year cause our current place has high gas bills in the winter and has flooded 3 times since we moved in...can we say mold and lots of it!
#30, #31, & #32 are definitely in our future given the time DH has left until he can retire from the NAVY.


Whew! Can't believe I remember all of that!
